Remove the Jester award..

It just gets spammed by trolls to people which they don't like their ideas, which discourages healthy discussions in my opinion... There are plenty of other useful awards though.

Oh gee look another rant about the jester award and wanting it removed... just like all the other dozens+ of them which you could have read and joined if you had bothered to use the search feature and no it would not have been necroing anything because half of those threads are more then likely still active with people arguing about it.


Short version, they are not going to remove it. They are not going to change it. Ignore it, and be thankful for free points.

The better option would be for Valve to have never had the stupid award system in the first place, its caused too many issues. Would love for them to just get rid of it... but we all know thats not going to happen. So only option is to live with it and don't expect any changes.

They just get spammed by people who want free points via jesters, which clog up the message boards in my opinion... Awards are entirely pointless.

Jesters are fine. the solution to this problem has always been:
Enjoy the free points, forget about the Jester.
They can only bother you if you choose to let them bother you.

Here's a challenge for anyone willing:
(Excluding poster asking or begging for awards)
Show me a post that you can, or have awarded with a Jester award, with good intent, and that there's good reason to believe the recipient of the potential award, [would've] received the award believing it was sent with good intent.

I think I can use all the awards except the Jester award (slow clap is somewhat tough too, but less so), in good intent and believe the user receiving the award also understands the good intent. The Jester award can't serve that purpose anymore. It's only used to troll.

Does it need to be removed? No, but changing it to something that can actually be used in good intent would be smart. The Jester has served its purpose by now.

Hence the exclusion criteria of asking or begging for awards. It doesn't really prove the good intent which is the purpose here.
