dk it seemed like you followed us here after that thread of yours got locked 🤷🏻♀️
Huh? Is this like one of those "socialism is when no iPhone" memes?
So how can one be pro-capitalism in this case, while still wanting to stomp out its inherent features?
Yeah, you derailed the tread I opend up there by comming into the tread and constantly asking out of topic questions and then you reported the tread for being out of topic to the mods, which got it shut down and now I follow the conversation up with you in the next few forums you will go. Whats the issue with that ?
I didnt even know that online gambling or grindy progression treadmills in games are inherent features of capitalism. 😆
Where did I say "I want to stomp out capitalism" ?
Haha what, I joined it and said some things about Keanu and the cyberpunk genre. Also I never reported anything, idk why you would even think that. And I mean it just felt like you followed me and Tanoomba here.
Oh you sweet summer child
It rather seems that people cant even remember the time before the year 2000 anymore.
- No online gambling in 99 % of the tripple A games.
- No releasing half finished games for 60$ and selling you the other half later
- No progression treadmills in most games, except they are inherently grindy like Diablo
- No content starving live service games like Halo Infinite
- No forching people to watch twitch or play nonrelated games to gain access to desirable ingame items
Those things are not unavoidably inherent features of the videogame industry.
They only exist nowadays, because people keep consuming them.
So you want stricter regulations?
See this guy gets it, its really not such a hard concept to grasp ;)
But I knew that already. I'm asking you, how do we achieve that? By simply yelling at companies and calling other people simps and stans and shills on the Steam forums?
Speaking of lootboxes, gambling, and microtransactions in games, this video comes to mind https://youtu.be/xNjI03CGkb4

The good old days are over. Games are a "service", not games anymore. The writing was on the walls but the average gamer has the willpower of a moth exposed to a flame.

So people get tricked and addicted because they're dumb? How do you quantify that anyway? Do you have to take a Mensa test?
If you have a problem with this, sue me.
No, I'm saying what about all the vulnerable people like kids and younger folks in general. Or people who are struggling with mental health issues? Or people on the spectrum, or people with ADHD who have addictive behaviours? Are they also just 'dumb', and deserve to be preyed on?
I agree, that's all you can do at this point.
Making fun of simps and spending more time in non-gaming related hobbies.
You could also push for online gambling regulations in games, especially prohibiting gambling for games consumed by kids. And you definitely should do that. But at the end of the day those shareholder value driven publisher will just come up with new methods of milking their customers dry to compensate for the loss of gambling revenue, like:
- including unskippable ads right into the game:

They will do that anyway in the future, gambling restrictions or not.
And it's legally impossible to prohibit them from implementing progression treadmills.
If they want to make the games super grindy, they will always find a way to do so.
As said, only light at the end of the tunnel is digital production tools becoming so advanced that even small indie studios can produce larger games.
