Nope, Brazil is PART of latin America, so if you include Brazil plus a bunch of other countries its still only 3% of the market.

Which again, # of users doesn't really matter if they aren't spending money on steam which as shown they aren't.

Simply put, ignoring it is losing money.
You should really read the article. Yeah its growing, but if you read the article instead of googling the first one you'd have noticed that it says its growing due to the mobile market and cloud gaming, both things that have nothing to do with Steam, and smart phones are expected to account for 80% of all internet connections in the region....

From your article
So, what’s behind the region’s success? Experts point out that the rapid growth of mobile gaming and the emergence of cloud gaming are the main responsible for it.

There is a significant mobile penetration and development of internet connectivity throughout LatAm. The Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA) reported that by 2025, mobile penetration in the region would be at 73%. Meanwhile, smartphones are expected to account for 80% of all internet connections in the region. This has, of course, a direct impact on games.

You'd also note that its growing by a whopping 5% Year over Year rate. So that 3% of revenue after 6 years at that rate will turn into 4%........

Beside its not as if Valve is NEVER going to bring the STeam Deck to LATAM (though they'll probably be on the Living Room by then). They just haven't gotten to that at the moment.

Dear Start_Running,

This has nothing to do with revenue, though. I would recommend you to re-read the article, when you have some free time.
On the contrary it has everything to do with revenue.
Revenue is what businesses seek.
And even counting users... they're pretty small and you know this since you refer to their place in these lists rather than the actual percentage they count for.

4.7%. Half as much as the third position.

The point still stands. Brazil isn't a very big fish .

Dear brian9824,

I've read the article, and I knew you would point out the focus on mobile gaming.

Oh well, isn't the Steam Deck a mobile gaming device? :)

No, it does not run games from apple or IOS, it's a portable PC which is not the same thing as a mobile phone.

Yep, Japan for instance with less users spends far more on steam. Hence why it's a much bigger market

Nope.

You know full well what they mean by 'mobile gaming'.

That's correct, a portable PC which means it is a mobile gaming device. I mean, that's its main purpose, right? :) Glad we can agree on that.

Of course people want to make their voices heard and let valve know their desire for the product. And valve obviously does its own analysis. What's the point of people arguing about how it's not profitable

Does the Deck run a mobile OS such as Android or iOS?
Does the Deck use a specified app store to download games that are only made for it's OS specifically?
Is the Deck locked to a proprietary software and, by extension, app store service?

If the Deck is a 'mobile device' than so is my laptop.

Its a good thing Valve knows better then to take financial advice from someone who doesn't know the difference between a mobile phone and a PC....

As already shown in the link OP Latin America is one of Steam's smallest markets in the world, and when you add in the buying power the average person has it's pretty bleak. Brazil is one of the worst markets with an average monthly wage of under $400 a month, and unlike software you can't discount the hardware as much to make up for their lower wages...

Not only yours, but every laptop is a mobile device, yes. I mean, that's why they were invented, right? So people could carry their computers around with them.

As for your questions, you can find the answers here:

https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck

Everything you need to know about the Steam Deck is there. I'd also recommend reading some reviews of it.

I asked because I own a Deck.

The Deck or a laptop is not a 'mobile device' as it is being used in the article that was shared. You know this.

But, I'm not going to continue entertaining your semantics to avoid any admitting of mistakes.

Dear brian9824,

Please, do some research before posting.

Brazil is one of the biggest videogame markets in the world, ranked in the 10th position in 2020:

If you have newer data, please share with us.

I'm not sure what you mean, a mobile device is any device that is made to carry around with you. Anyone reasonable is able to comprehend that.
