Remove new item notifications
I have no interest in items and never want to see a green notification or toast popup about them but there seems to be no way to disable this. Also, viewing the items so that the notification goes away is a slow process requiring multiple clicks and then waiting on the steam browser, to make this more painful.

I'm sure this has been suggested before but it bears repeating. It's rather a silly thing to notify me about and not be able to avoid.

I second this. It completely screws up The Pinball Arcade in directx 11 mode on Windows 10 at least.

Okay, to be fair, I just switched The Pinball Arcade to Windows 7 compatibility mode, and it fixed the overlay, but I'd still rather not have these new item notifications to begin with.

Agree w/this. No interest in trading cards. Never want to see the item notification for them. Ideally I'd like to be able to mass-delete them from my inventory altogether, but barring that, never being made aware of their existence would suffice.

Agreed. Every time after playing Gungeon I have to spend time clicking away annoying notifications.

This should be basic developer knowledge - if you introduce a non-core feature, make it optional - otherwise you're being a douche.

You can sell them

AFAIK, there is no known way to stop trading card notifications while Steam is online - trade bans and VAC bans won't stop them.

Switching Steam to offline will stop them, but many games won't work with Steam offline.

You could also raise a support ticket, but I doubt that will have much effect.

@DerpyGalaxy Selling them doesn't stop you from receiving more.

I know, but of you recieve so many that it becomes annoying, then you might get a significant amount from selling them.

That's actually one of the most common responses from people who don't mind the trading cards and don't understand what the fuss is about. I wrote an answer in one of my previous posts:

No, it's not free as it takes a certain amount of time and effort to sell them. I'm already using a far better way to convert my time and effort into money - it's called a job. Perhaps if a bot can sell them for me, then it really is free money, but last I checked, bots and Steam accounts don't mix.

At the end of the day, the problem is that the notification is a big annoyance for those who don't care for trading cards. It's a bit like getting an email notification and you drop whatever you're doing in case it's a job offer or a message from a friend. But no, it's advertising dingaling enlargement pills or it's a Nigerian prince seeking your help; anger and frustration ensues.

And the process and interface to sell cards one by one are terrible; I couldn't be bothered with it all... So +1, I also would like to remove all notifications and annoying pop-ups

And in the ultimate irony, I now keep receiving notifications of replies to this thread; just more things I don't care about.

Irony indeed! At least we're given the option to unsubscribe from these discussion unlike the trading cards.

to me this is just spam. please give me the option to turn it off!
This actually could be useful. Maybe remove just the notification but not the green 1 in your browser?

Thanks, that unsubscribe button was what I needed.
