Report a translation problem
This should be basic developer knowledge - if you introduce a non-core feature, make it optional - otherwise you're being a douche.
Switching Steam to offline will stop them, but many games won't work with Steam offline.
You could also raise a support ticket, but I doubt that will have much effect.

That's actually one of the most common responses from people who don't mind the trading cards and don't understand what the fuss is about. I wrote an answer in one of my previous posts:
At the end of the day, the problem is that the notification is a big annoyance for those who don't care for trading cards. It's a bit like getting an email notification and you drop whatever you're doing in case it's a job offer or a message from a friend. But no, it's advertising dingaling enlargement pills or it's a Nigerian prince seeking your help; anger and frustration ensues.
Irony indeed! At least we're given the option to unsubscribe from these discussion unlike the trading cards.
