Screw social media.
And, as the guy above me said, if we can delete accounts with all badges, why can't we delete one or another badge? At least let us convert them to gems, as said the OP.
*EDIT*
Just noticed you cannot "unearn" anything. So if you join a steam group, then leave, you cannot "unearn" the highlight for joining a steam group. Likely skip out on 2-Factor and find a workaround since it would unlock the Mid-Way POC Badge.
Almost melted a card into gems, read online that creates a badge.
etc.
>This is a good idea.
Also - Steam badges don't warn you before being awarded - so they aren't a "Choice". Cannot be bundled in with the "Dumb Badges" category. (whip involved)
Before going nuts should probably address some counter arguments:
- We cannot boil *Badgess into Gems. It would put a "Price Roof" to something that was a "commodity" across a great deal of cards that was assigned "user value". To be blunt it could be whatever the value the market was at the time of creation. It might be possible on a very small and equal scale (ex.16 GEMSxLEVEL), but not aware of the margins/rarities.
- We cannot opt out of Steam Badges because it convinces users to spend money. For instance, if you nominated, voted, and your yearly passed; you would have 1 featured badges there. If you had just unlocked your POC (Pillar Of Community), you would have none. (...oddly they let you opt into the winter steam awards badge?)
- Badges follow a TIMELINE. Added to the above, the whip always cracks.
- Badges have a Showcase, and you unlock a Showcase every ten levels.
Been arguing this topic years (myself across three profiles including this one spanning nearly a decade) - always comes down to forcing us to do two things...
1. NEW PROFILE
2.(OR) NEW BADGE for the update wipe
My help requests end unresolved and eventually time out. Our original argument back-in-the-day was with the cards-to-gems badge.
This "nothing" of a demand kills Collectors inside. We lose sleep over this, it's bad.
...don't give up the fight...
...but don't stop at organizing, we're talking hide or remove. Or even "opt-out-of".
//spellcheck
It seems like it is not bad idea after all to optimised that small feature for those options. Having the hide, remove or even change for gems are al good ideas. After all the comunity has spoken more than enough to altleast implement those options already. Seems oddly enough that small features like those, haven't been from the very first this issues where created since the community start to convers about them. And have not been available since then. Form the fix of the creditcard market hold issue, the badges options, review organisation problem, the desier to delete properly games that appear in your profile that you don't have anymore in your labrary.
Id like to keep those too!
Keep up the great work! Ideas are compiled, credited, and employed.
