Displaying lower level badges

Some games have badges with the same design but going from bronze to silver to gold, etc. so it makes sense to want the highest level.

Other games, however, feature characters or distinct designs for their badges. Let's say I love a game enough to want to level up my badge to the max, but I like the level 4 design more than the level 5, leaving a strong dissatisfaction.

While I think the ideal would be to consider each level a separate badge for displaying purposes, at least being able to choose which level will be displayed would be great for the userbase.

On the other hand, this would also benefit Valve, as this would mean users like me would stop refraining from getting more trading cards, and there would be an increase of use in the Community Market.

I accidentally leveled a badge up to level 5 that I only wanted to display the level 4 version of, because I had enough cards to level up to 5 and pressed the "craft x4" button when I was at level 1, not realizing that I only wanted the level 4... :/

Is it really the same thing, though? That topic is about delete, hide, or downgrade, whereas, this suggestion merely wants to display the lower leveled badge on their profile but keep the higher level points. I mean... it's similar sure...

Read the OP's post about choosing the badge level.

...and choose which level to showcase from previously crafted levels. The coolest way to do the latter is choosing a certain previous level in the main badges page and choosing which level to put in the badges showcase at the same time. Imagine being able to showcase all 5 levels of the same badge. How cool would that be?
