Playing family shared games with friends?
I can't be the only one that has this gripe. Playing games you have family shared with the people you have family shared with.

Does anyone wish this was a feature? You can't even play games that have been family shared if the other person is playing a game on steam.

Please let me know what you guys think because I am sure there are others out there that would also like to play with your friends and wouldn't mind family sharing with them if they could join you on your favourite games, even if they haven't purchased the game themselves.

Any ideas would be welcome but i know there are some of you that will say "people should just buy it them selves". i get that. but some people can't afford to be spending say £60 on a game, so for instance, they cold chip in some money to the friend so together they can buy and play the game, at least then they can both enjoy the game, personally, me an a friend of mine do this on Xbox a lot, it's how we afforded Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate edition, split it half way and then we can both enjoy it,. There is an idea, maybe an option to pay with friends? just a thought.

MAKE STEAM GREAT AGAIN!

This would be the best option to be able to play with your friends without them having to purchase them, it is called family share but if a family is willing to play all together on the same game, they cannot without getting kicked off within the 5 min warning. This gives us all the chance to have more fun with one another, it wouldn't be a problem even if there was a limit to the amount of people you can allow like you already have at the moment.

If you could make this suggestion a thing, that would be greatly appreciated by many people in the community.

Thanks,

This is a good idea since it allows people to play games they might like before actually buying them, then probably buying the games in future.

The thing is though, company's won't be loosing out as the game is family shared anyway, so even if they are playing as well, it will make no difference to any revenue.

The only difference is 1 license is playing at 1 time right now.

That may be, but for instance if you game share on Xbox, you can play that same game with them on the same licence, that shouldn't be an issue on here either.

Having this ability on the PC is far more prone to abuse as a lot of games do not even require Steam to run the game.

Just don't allow them games to family share. But even still that should be fine as they're just signing into a different account anyway, so that shouldn't be an issue either.

Then those games can already be exploited so multiple people can play them at the same time.

And I said in that thread you linked why Family Sharing allows only one person playing at one time, and how to eliminate that

And btw, only reason why your family member can't play Serious Sam from your Library while you're playing The Talos Principle is because that would open up Family Sharing for exploitation and some people would rent their large libraries to others and earn money that way.

Play Together eliminates that by forcing you to be in the same room while launching the game, and fact that you can play only that same game together because person B wouldn't be able to launch any other games from person's A Library.

And devs could opt out if they don't like that feature.

and chances are you would end up with a majority of games opted out of it and ppl complaining about that.

That is exactly the reason it WON'T be done. I mean why would anyone design a service that easily lets people pay 1/5 of whatever price they try to sell a game for?

There are a lot of games that you can't family share, Day Z being one of them, there might be a few that opt out but at the end of the day, it will get more people playing there games, again, every single game on xbox is fine, so i really don't see why it can't be done on here.

I'm not saying that's what they would do, i know they probably wouldn't do a part pay option, it's just a suggestion.
