Download workshop items for non-steam games.
I've been playing SOMA that I have on GOG[www.gog.com] and I noticed that there are some mods on Steam Workshop that I'd like to try.
But I can't download them because I don't own the game on Steam.
I also have more games on other launchers that have Steam Workshop.

It would be nice if Steam allowed us to download workshop items without owning the game on Steam.

We can already subscribe to the items of games that we don't own and we can add them to favorites.
But Steam only downloads workshop items if that game is installed.
And when game is installed from GOG, Uplay, EPIC, Origin, etc. Steam doesn't download those workshop items that we're subscribed to.

Not owning it on Steam = no benefits associated with the game(s). There are ways to bypass this but I'd rather not post them.

You can ask the mod makers to upload them to other mod sites.

Can I add you so you can tell me about those ways in PM?

And are those ways similar to downloading soundtrack DLC without downloading main game?
