Well yes, because you didn't buy it from Valve, you bought it from a user who already bought it from Valve.

If you want the points you have to buy it through Steam.

Do you mean the steam points for the deck itself, or for when you buy games on/for it?

Uhmmm…obviously you don’t get points for something you bought from a third party seller. That’s kinda obvious.

Its points for using the Steam store - you didn’t use it. Valve never received money from you.

Now that's some entitlement.

Let's see how they react when they notice they won't get any Steamprofile rewards either as they were already redeemed on another Steamaccount.

And let's see what happens when they need technical support without having ever bought the SteamDeck.

*steam account
no need to be toxic
Don't buy used steam decks. That is your punishment for buying a used steam deck.

So if someone else logs into their account on my steam deck they can't use the points shop and wont get points for making purchases?

I get the points then? May try this on my alt,

I believe OP means the points you get for buying the actual deck; those buckets loads of initial points. I think my was +65000 or something.

OP will still get points for purchases on their account.

If that's the case then it is common sense.

My most recent experience buying a used steam deck on eBay since it was faster shipping . After setting up my account I’ve discovered that I can’t redeem any steam points in rewards due to someone owning this model prior to me . This is a poor stipulation that valve should change . Now I own a device that someone else will reap the benefits of my purchases . So since support can’t help it’s gonna be sold off and I won’t be going on steam . Another good reason to just stick to consoles 👎🏻
I agree, pc gaming is a bit too complex for some. Consoles would suite you better.

For those that lack the understanding of my post , I give zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about collecting points for buying the Steam Deck. I am talking about the games that I purchase now that I own one of course it’s very obvious I would not collect points for something I did not buy but the things that I buy moving forward I don’t get the rewards for that the person who owned it before me that I purchased it from does because the serial number is linked to their account since they were the original purchaser of the Steam Deck.
You sure that's how it works? Even if does work like that, you can easily get around it by buying games on a pc, tablet or phone and then installing them on the steam deck.

Edit: and he deleted everything. I think most people, including the OP, jumped to conclusions in this thread.

The Special Deck profile and Keyboard skins?

Yeah, that goes to whomever redeemed them on the Deck first and only that user can contact support to have them removed so the new owner can redeem them.

Ohhhh , I thought it was connected to future game purchases as well . I was confused by it for sure . Thanks for clarifying it for me . I’m new to this 😅
