Remove all Discord CDN links
The chat program Discord is a known dumping ground for malware and malicious bots, and is widely used for command and control of serious malware including credential stealers, ransomware, and other things. Some malware can even use Discord to crash other players' games.

Sophos, an anti-malware publisher and research group, reports that the greatest amount of malware they've found on the Discord Content Distribution Network is, quote: "credential and personal information theft, a wide variety of stealer malware as well as more versatile RATs."

This means software that steals bank account info and Steam account info.

So by allowing games that link with Discord to run on Steam, ValveCorp is inadvertently putting their users and all the games on this platform at serious risk of catastrophic loss.

I believe that these games should be sanctioned or heavily restricted in their capability to link with Discord, and all links that lead to a Discord server should be considered a direct link to malware.

EDIT: I will not allow this thread to be derailed by any method. Attempts to bring up previous threads are obvious attempts to derail a thread and will be treated as such.

Each creator who makes a post that attempts to derail this thread will result in one singular chain of action:

Mute, block, report. You're not worthy of my time if you keep trying to derail the thread and troll me. You're not going to get a rise out of me.

EDIT: I'm sick and tired of some people (not naming names) being so stuck-up and closed-minded that they cannot admit that other people have different experiences.

The technically-impossible happens all the time. Just because YOU haven't seen it happen, doesn't mean weird crap doesn't happen!

Right, so how is getting rid of Discord links on Steam gonna stop devs from relying on Discord?

It will force them to put any info or technical support details on Steam or lose a large chunk of their community.

Or they just host the Discord link on their own websites. "Go to our website for information on how to contact us."

Ah, but that's the thing - Steam requires them to provide technical support ON STEAM - NOT on a third party website.

They can provide an additional third-party site, but they're required to post technical support details here, on the forums.

Given OP quite literally claimed a user should be banned from a game, for posting a video of modded content on Twitter, as a joke.

I think I've seen all I need to.

That's false. Steam doesn't require such things at all.

Prove it.

So what have we learned? That the OP doesn't know how to keep themsleves secure and will click on any link given to them

Yeah, you're lying right there.

Wanna see me ignore a link? Test me.

So what have we learned? That Ice Mountain is a liar, loves to profile people without reason, and hates to be wrong.

OP has been on a huge anti-Discord brigade for well over a year now too it seems.

All has needed to be said has been said, we can likely let this thread die out finally.

Prove it.

No such rules exists anywhere on this site

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/gettingstarted

If you want to claim such a rule exists, then you provide a link to said rule.

Sorry buddy, you claimed the rule didn't exist. Burden of proof belongs to you pal.

Here's a hint: You're looking in the wrong place.

Only way for your discord server to be deleted when only you have permission to do so is if there is malware on your PC that did it, only way to get malware like that is if you clicked on a link to get it.

Or discord did it themselves. But since you are claiming malware did it, that means it's malware you downloaded to your own PC through the link you clicked. Nothing on discord can do downloaded to your PC without YOU clicking on the link in the first place.

I'm claiming a malicious Discord bot did it. Not malware or Discord themselves.

You know Discord bots are pretty versatile - they can webhook into just about everything.

Got another article to check out. This one details a lot about bots.

Nope, I cannot prove something doesn't exist, which is why I pointed to Steams partner site where the rules are spelled through out, and so such rule exist.

You are claiming such rule exists, therefore the onus of proof is on the one to prove existence. But we know you won't, because this is another lie by you, if it is true then you would provide such proof of existence, but you won't because you can't because you are once again lying.

Try the Steam Code of Online Conduct. Or the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Which, might I add, many of you broke so many times in this chat.

Bots cant do anything without permission, so now you are claiming you gave a bot permission, that is still on you. Why you giving permissions to bots?

I'm not claiming that. I'm claiming a malicious bot took out my server, one that wasn't even IN the server at the time, and had NO permission to do so.

I gave no permissions to bots. At least not willingly, or knowingly.

Look closer.
This isn't the first server OP lost either, apparently. Hmm.

Rule #6 in the Steam Online Conduct manual:

Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying Steam services, software or other content.

You either lying once again, you had malware on your PC from a link you clicked, or you gave permission to a bot.

Pick one.

Your claim here cannot be done, those bots need permissions inorder to do so.

I am picking option 4: None of the above.

I am not lying, I had no malware on my PC, and I did not give permissions to a bot.
