Reviews from users that received the game for free
Hi,

I would like to know what is the logic to allow users that received the game for free to review it and give the same value of another user that paid it? is it possible remove these reviews by default from the overall score?

if you check 99% of time are positive ( no really? ) I mean what do you aspect from who received the game for free? must be really really really bad to vote it negative.

I am not saying that needs to be deleted, just add it to the section without include it in the score otherwise this will fake the result

bye

You can ignore those reviews already because there is a note "Product received for free" in the review itself.

Besides of that I doubt if that influence the score that much.
If the amount of free keys given out are more than reviews from paid customers there is already something wrong.

The only part that Steam could add imho is a filter so certain users who do not trust them can exclude them for the score displayed but you will miss some interesting reviews from press copies, people who were in beta for a game etc.

And how did you check all reviews for 8000 games to make the conclusion that 99% of reviews from free keys are positive? Would like to see the algo you used for that and the source.

Last but not least should you review a game positive only because the key was free?
That makes you a bad reviewer at least.

The review score already does not include scores from users that activated the game via a key.
Only the rating from users that bought the game directly on Steam does count for the overall %.
Users who got the game via a key can still write a review but their rating (thumbs up/down) does not cout for the rating.

It's always super-handy when they name or mention that.

Unless the viewer specifically adjusts their review settings.
