Steam needs a Tray Icon that shows Online/Busy/Away/Offline Status
Users should be able to glance at the Steam tray icon, and know their status. Windows itself uses variable tray icons, for instance, to show whether the network and/or internet is functional/available. Many anti-virus programs change their icon when you disable/enable certain features of the program.

How about it?

  • Online: Steam icon, just like now
  • Busy: Steam icon with a "clock" in to lower-right corner
  • Away: Steam icon, dimmed, with a "jet" in the corner? An "arrow"?
  • Offline: Steam icon, "circle with line through it", or a "red dot" in corner?

Pretty please, with sugar on top?

Are you asking about just a tasktray icon modification? Or are you asking how to set your status?

If you don't know, here's how....

Right-click icon, select Settings, go to Interface, click on Set Taskbar Preferences, put checkmarks in Online/Away/Busy/Offline, click OK, and OK. Now you can Right-click on the icon anytime and select your status.

It won't change the color or look of your icon, but you will see a checkmark next to your status.

I've known you can do this but my only question is, does it only hide your messenger status? or does it hide those messages your friends get that say "Mr.Dragon is now playing xxxxxxx". I wonder...... Hmmmmm....

Task Tray Icon modification. I don't to click on it at all, I want to glance at the icon, and know my status -- just like with most Anti-virus programs, for instance.
