Valve should remove the moderators' ability to close threads that don't break rules / replace the moderators.

If a thread doesn't break any rules and people start being non-constructive in it, moderators' should not have the option to simply close the thread.

Not having this option will force the moderators to address the root cause of the constant non-constructive dialogue that goes on around here instead of taking the easy way out.

Without addressing the issue, and the without consequences for all sides involved. you are just guaranteeing this behavior will continue. And that non-constructive behavior will be weaponized by trolls to shut down suggestions they dislike, as it has been seen happening repeatedly.

If moderators still can't solve the rampant and obvious problems in these forums after that, they should be removed and replaced with a new body of moderators.

Unfortunately there are a bunch of forum dwellers, the self proclaimed Steam gurus, who think they know everything about what Steam is and what it is meant to be. They do not represent Steam in any official way and all they do is express their own biased opinions.

They have tens of thousands of forum posts that generally aren't very helpful. Suggestions are many times criticized in a negative and demeaning way. Boosting self esteem is a possible explanation for this behavior.

Of course you don't mind when they heap fawning praise for an idea do you?

As for your suggestion, I think replacing moderators for some bad experiences you had with moderation of your threads, is rather extreme. And if someone is terrible at moderating, then they will eventually be removed as a moderator. That seems like a given. Also, not all problems can be solved by moderators. It seems like there is a personal issue now, with lots of trolling and insults. People always find a way to negatively interact with each other.

Thing is he said the same thing about the VMOd. now it's the Paid Mods and SUpport that aren't doing their job. At somepoint. The problem is internall to the sufferer not external.

Agreed. I think the people who are always criticizing others know very well what they are doing. They know their comments will frustrate or upset someone. It is all about negative attention.

On the other hand (and that also deserves mentioning), I've also seen OPs completely lose it and resort to insults when someone politely disagrees.

One of the primary problems here, is indeed OP in this degree. He has a history of making the same suggestions, subtlely reworded. For over a year now.

A huge part of people attacking him, is because they're tired of him. I'm not advocating for it, merely explaining.

Keep in mind, even in THIS thread. OP tries to talk like he's the voice of "many regs" and newbies.

Also keep in mind, a huge majority of the different people who HAVE posted here? Most of them regs, and most of them disagree with him.

I really don't mind someone disagreeing with me. Just like I wrote. It is not about the disagreement itself, but the way it is expressed.

Comments you put on your profile dedicated to harassing other people result in community bans. A few scammers got banned this way and it was only for one comment as well. OP wrote a dozen of them so it is very likely he will also be banned.

I believe that Steam community ban also restricts ability to post community content like screenshots. So that's not a very good situation to be in if you're an active gamer.

I believe that Steam community ban also restricts ability to post community content like screenshots. So that's not a very good situation to be in if you're an active gamer.

I'm a retrogamer with 0 friend in my list and the most recent screenshot I got is older than some of you are.

I'll be fine.

Edit: To be clear. I do not WANT a perma ban. But, if that's what I get, so be it. I ain't gonna cry over and start a whole drama for something I bought on myself.
