AND OR setting for Dynamic Collections
Currently when you add multiple criteria to a Dynamic Collection they are all AND conditions so it only shows games that meet all of the the criteria. I would like to be able to create Collections where the criteria is OR. For example I want a Dynamic Collection for all of by games that are building types. This requires the use of Tags and there are multiple that a game could be Tagged with so I want the list to include any of my games that have the one of the below tags,
City Builder
Building
Colony Sim
Base Builder

I dont know as collections are fine. If any of your games are uninstalled and you use show only ready to play games the tags may not work plus Steam keeps chamging the library elements.
If it helps you
I just created a collection for every category of my games set the collections to show only games availabe to play.
Then right click a game add to collection .
In Steam settings >library>display size for library user interface elements to small.
They are small thumbnails.

High lighting a collection on the left will show all the games in that collection on the right.

Nope, I have a lot of games not installed that I may want to install to play depending on my mood.

I was about to make my own post about this, but I found yours!

YES! I absolutely agree, I think the logic used to create Dynamic Creations should be expanded quite a bit.

For example, a Dynamic Collection for "Singleplayer AND (Adventure OR Choices Matter) NOT Visual Novel. (Nothing against Visual Novels, of course!)

This would help immensely, especially now with trying to juggle one library between both PC and Steam Deck.

Also, I would love to see the ability to use our other collections as a condition too. To use your example:

(City Builder OR Building OR Colony Sim OR Base Builder) AND Deck Verified/Playable NOT in the "Sim City" Collection

I agree! I was also about to make my own post about this. I'm about to go on vacation with a group of friends and wanted to see all the different multiplayer games I own. I have to create separate dynamic collections for all the different multiplayer options in order to fully see every multiplayer game I have (player type cooperative, player type multiplayer, tag local co-op, tag 4 player co-op, tag local multiplayer, etc.). I'd love to have an "or" option for the different selections when creating a dynamic collection.

If that is too much, what about an ability to have a custom collection that pulls from the various dynamic collections? In my case, I make multiple dynamic co-op collections and then have a custom collection that pulls every game dropped into any of those dynamic collections. I'd prefer to just have and/or options in the dynamic collection but this is another option to get what I want.

years later and valve still didn't bat an eye to this
I'm trying to create a dynamic collection for good graphics, but some games use the "cinematic" tag, others use the "realistic", and so on... I can't put 'em all together in the same category!

There should be a way so the dynamic collection would scrape by <or> or <and>, and even <not> like Calico said

After years of using steam, I've finally admitted my collection is in desperate need of organizing. I sit down to do it and run into the described issues. Please implement this!

Same here.
I'd love to see some logic switches like that.
I'd like to have a collection of all my driving/flying/simulation games, but that isn't possible at the moment.

100% agreed, though it seems I'm a bit late to the party. Trying to include all my roguelikes and roguelites in a single dynamic collection is impossible without OR as an option. If it seems too complicated for some users, put it behind an "advanced settings" checkbox. I can't even create a dynamic collection of games that any of my steam friends have without OR statements, which is honestly what prompted my search tonight, though not being able to group games tagged "Puzzle Platformer" with "Precision Platformer" was a close second.

Not late at all. We need to make some noise about this, otherwise Valve won't listen.

It's such an easy fix, I can't see any other reason for them not doing this other than unawareness.

I would like this implemented as well.

Still no "OR" option with dynamic collections? Seems like such an easy thing to implement.

I agree. Just give me access to the steam code and I'll do it.

This would be great. I would like to make a multiplayer section so i know which games i can play with my friends when i see them. I then ran into this problem. I could manually do it like on my switch, but this would help a lot. I'd like to get into PC gaming soon, and maybe even get a steam deck eventually. It would be even better to have this with a system like brackets in math. For example, you could do something like "(contains tag: local multiplayer OR contains tag: 4 player local OR contains tag: local co-op) AND (deck: verified OR deck: playable)" . This would be that it must contain at least one of the three tags mentioned and must be either playable or verified on deck. Something like "contains tag: local multiplayer OR contains tag: 4 player local OR (contains tag: local co-op AND deck: verified) OR deck: playable" would include all games either playable on deck or including one of the first two tags but only games both tagged with local co-op and verified on deck, not if a game only had one and didn't fill any other criteria.

i would like this to be easily implemented as well. i still cant believe that its been years but dynamic collections still dont support OR and NOT groupings

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
