How is the feature a bad thing in itself ?
Causes extra problems when people use it to screw with other people, and then of course stupid drama like this arises as a result. Now Steam is responsible for the fallout.

Also,

Welcome to internet (last bastion of free speech for a bunch of countries), you can't force people not to "troll". I'm not saying it's a good thing to be a d*ck online but i don't thing it'll ever change unless something interfering with free speech. If anything, it's infantile. They are clowning themselves...
...note that you literally can't "clown yourself" in this way. Not only can you not give awards to your own posts, but the system also doesn't show who gave what awards to what.

Steam is responsible for some users being du*b f**ks or infantile ?
No.
You miss the point here, people use a feature and infer a meaning that's not making sense, people get triggered and make threads wile being dramatic and unhelpful... F*** it, might as well blame both ends.

"trolls" clown themselves by acting like d*** f***s, not by giving themselves awards. It'd be broken if you could do that : spend your points to award yourself more of them... It wouldn't make sense.

Hey, I've said the same thing with regards to other restrictions and people tell me that other people are being "du*b f**ks" and "that's why we don't have nice things". :P

Well, frankly, how else are you going to interpret someone sticking a clown sticker on something that's meant to be taken seriously?

Actually it's already built to prevent a point gain even if you could award yourself -- all awards give only 1/3 of the points they cost.

Why do you find it offensive?
Lily McFluffy Butt 6 AGO 2022 a las 7:50 a. m.
tldr clown award is not offensive, oversensitive people think it's offensive and want to harass people who give it to them

i think you mean the clown/jester award is adorable! And more people should use it.
In fact you may think it's so adorable you are "fishing" for free-awards of it by pretending you do not like it.

Just be honest.. you love it and think it's cutie, just like me!

Jesus. It’s a bunch of pixels with points attached to it.

Who cares if some random dude on the internet think you’re a clown.
See! I just got clowned. I’m totally not going to take my car and find the m*****F***** who did this okay? You heard me? GOOD.

Thx for points.

i agree
we should delete the reddit awards outright because they serve only to poison community content by promoting low-effort award-farming garbage

It's just a award don't overthink it and clowns aren't offensive unless your thinking of it as pennywise but it nothing like that or unless you have a fear of clowns which maybe they should change the award as there is people who are genuinely scared of clowns and they shouldn't have to face that horror everyday. So they could change it to a mask face that is happy then problem solved.

Facts
1. They give you it because your post made them laugh
2. Made them smile
3. They can only afford that award
4. To give you points without taking all theirs.

Myths
People use it to offend
People use it to humiliate you

Ive only received the award a couple times in my decade+ on steam and each time I felt like the dev was trying to discredit what I said about their videogame

imo, a lot of devs on steam are very toxic and we shouldnt give them tools to express that toxicity

You've got some of these mixed up. Because when someone sticks a clown onto something meant to be taken seriously, that's not "made them laugh" in a good way, and people can tell a discrepancy that's as glaringly obvious as this.

Also, like I mentioned earlier, people have outright spelled it out, even.

First sentence makes no sense. Don't change subject. I'd interpert it as funny since the goal of clowns is make people laugh, be funny OR people "trolling" (which i see as r*****ed, sometimes attention seeking). I thought awards gave a fixed amount, if not, i might have a problem when getting some.

F*** yeah, if free i'd probably have to give 100+ a week with what i see on forums. Saying hello, giving points, feedback already p*sses some people off so i don't think it'll be a thing. Still that'd be funny as f*ck !
