Right?
Oh...
Can you prove that music was the reason why Myspace died?
And why are are we pretending social media profiles are the same thing as gamer profiles and that we have to play by the same rules? Do you see many social media profiles with animated avatars and animated backgrounds?
Every time this topic comes up, someone brings up Myspace as if that was the same thing.
I don't remember displaying my favorite CSGO skins and on Mysepace.
I've never used MySpace. Did it have a global toggle to mute music in all profiles?
Can you kindly stop all the emojis? You can be condescending without them.
As for your actual point, people bring up MySpace because the profiles there and the profiles here aren't much different. You can act like they are, but functionally, not really. Music in profiles is annoying as hell no matter where it is. This isn't 2005 anymore where such a thing was considered cool.
There's really no point to arguing about this, because it's never going to happen.
I actually don't remember, but it didn't matter because people weren't so sensitive back then.
I honestly never heard anyone complain about Music on Mysepace when it was actually a thing.
If you know the future, why didn't you win the lottery?
People said the same thing about various features now present on Steam, so stop trying to read the future, please. Only makes you look silly and arrogant.
I wonder...
When Valve eventually implements this...
Are "I was right." threads allowed?
Probably not, but "thank you Valve" threads will be fine ;)
Loud, annoying noises played by webpages is why major web browsers have decided to limit[developer.chrome.com] or disable[support.mozilla.org] autoplaying sounds[webkit.org].
I guess they should remove voice chat from games too, after all it can be freaking annoying.
Wait, that's not necessary, because there's an option to mute it forever, right?
That doesn't mean that I'm against this suggestion. Maybe Valve finds a clever way to implement music, perhaps with a new music showcase? Or a play button which activates the music
One can have dreams...
Yet, when you click on a youtube video, you have sound by default, because there is the expectation by the user that there might be sound on a video.
If Steam allows people to customize their profiles with music, after a short period of time, there will be an expectation of sound for Steam profiles as well, just like you now expect backgrounds and infoboxes.
The purpose of voice chat is helpful communication with your team, sure. You know that's not how people use it, though, unless you're playing a ranked match or something like that. People use it for the "lolz" like you said, or what is even worse, to be straight up toxic. For example, I remember when a teammate killed me and said "duck you" lmao.
There is no single option to mute forever voicechat in every game that has been or might be created, except perhaps suicide.
But hey, sometimes you just have to be inconvenienced because someone else wants to play the first 15 seconds of a song while you're on their profile for 15 seconds.
I should probably mention that browsers didn't just change the rules due to a tiny minority of users.
If you jump in a sewer every day, after a short period people will expect you to smell funny at all times.
But why?
