Ask the shop why they don't sell them anymore.

Stores carry products. Stores are responsible for managing their inventory. Valve is not responsible for making sure every store stocks enough of its gift cards.

There also could be shortages. Supply chain disruptions are still ongoing.

Regardless, if Steam Gift Cards become too inconvenient because of limited availability you'll have to look at alternate payment methods. Or find a new hobby.

Ask the store why they don't carry them, its not up to Valve to call every single store and find out if they are interested in selling the cards, or interested in continuing to sell the cards or why they stopped ordering cards.

I keep seeing people blame Valve for not selling cards at their local stores when its not up to Valve to do that.

There are many reasons why the cards are not there now, none of which have to do with Valve saying "no you can't sell them at that store anymore."

I thought my local walmart stopped selling them, till I noticed them down in the electronics section instead of with all the other gift cards.

So again ask who ever does the ordering for that store why they don't have any keys.

Could be they just ran out and it takes time to get more.
Could be its just taking longer to get more in because of the supply chain issues still going on.
Could be the store doesn't want to sell them anymore.

Actually, I’ve been told by the store manager that Valve has stopped issuing them anymore. He assumed it has to do with scams since they increased because of covid-19 lockdowns. It might be different depending on the country, but where I live Valve has to make sure it reaches the stores with whoever they work with to get the giftcards.

So, your only option is to check wherever it’s left, gas station is a safe bet.

That is untrue. 1) Valve doesn't make them. 2) I got one today.

Valve does "make" them.

Valve issues the codes. A 3rd party manufacturer makes the physical cards and distributes them to stores.
Some stores are doing away with physical cards and using the new kiosk system.
Also, there are more places to get them than just Tesco.

You just confirmed what I said to be true. You don’t need to always claim that “I am right” title.

Stores decide what to carry, how much, or to continue carrying an item. It is also up to the proper parties for said store(s) to order anything when getting low on any one item.

Thus, places that order gift cards for any one business, game, bank/prepaid will receive based upon their orders, or will not receive anything if not ordering it.

Simple business concept.

Do you have a reading disability? I’ve said they work with someone who is creating the gift cards and making them available in stores. Valve has to get in contact with the company that they are in contract with to make sure they get to the stores, and whether they want to keep them being sent to the stores.

So your contention is there's some sort of issue with the contractor that Valve isn't aware of, but you are because you know a guy who knows a guy? It's not impossible. But you can't be irritated about any skepticism towards those claims.

Valve doesn't contact anyone. The 3rd party manufacturer contacts Valve, requests X amount of codes and Valve issues them. Valve neither makes sure the cards/codes are available in any store. That is up to the 3rd party contracts with the stores themselves.

You guys are saying the same thing that I've said and just changed some things here and there to make it seem different, but go off..

I don't know if this applies outside the US, but apparently you can get a Steam gift card code from those green Coinstar machines that are in pretty much every grocery store (from $5-$250). Bonus, when you get a gift card code from those machines, you don't get charged a fee like they do if you are trying to get cash back.

If those types of coin counting machines exist in other countries, it might be worth seeing if they offer gift card codes and what retailers are available.
It could be gift card thieves breaking into stores stealing gift cards. Family dollar always get hit in my work area. I was about to buy sonic frontier until I found out that the family dollar was closed I know why thevies.
Salithin 10 apr, 2023 @ 19:28
Weirdly enough, I'm finding every other existing gift card except steam cards.
