So I am happily solving the summer challenge clues...get to clue 9...then I have to trawl through clips of hardcore virtual pornography and borderline paedophilia to find the VR game. Poor show Steam.

Why do you ask me to verify my age to see a fake zombie's bleeding bullet wound...but simulated sperm flying all over a woman's face in a VR game is A-OK and not at all age restricted? Did I miss something? I know you don't police content, but you should at least have to opt in to see this low quality trash. Bad judgement, bad decision. Reminds me of the Paedophile Exhange in the eighties: we can't be bothered to police this trash, so we won't bother and let everyone else sort it out.

At least make it so they are tagged as "Sex Simulator" then I can (somehow) block it...most of them are tagged as "Story Driven" or "Action"...some action.

Eh? So I am genuinely surprised that I have to say how old I am to view simulated cartoon violence...but really badly rendered trash VR games can serve up hard core "porn" with no restriction? I think there is a serious discrepancy there.

The option to do so already exists, check your store preferences. If adult content makes you uncomfortable you have the option to block it.

Change your preferences. You shouldn't be seeing mature content unless you actively selected it to be displayed.

I justr checked the category and noticed none of that and I do have mature content enabled.

Have no issue with people who like that kind of stuff...but why not just buy it off ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or the other 99% of the internet dedicated to pornography? Just sad that it is on Steam...with zero age restriction aside from an opt out via a hidden menu. My "Idea" is at least to age restrict it in the same way I am forced to verify my birthday if I want to see fake violence.

Users have to actively opt-in through the preferences menu in order to see mature content.

Displaying adult content is disabled by deafult.

This is not true Tito [actually this might be true Tito]. I have been a member here for 16 years and have never opted in to the category I was opted in to [to my memory]. Maybe it was after they threw out all of their policing of content and let any old crap in. I am obviously opted in to mature content...I like blowing zombies heads off. I am also opted in to violence/gore...because that is what computer games have been since I started playing them over 30 years ago...I opted into sexual content/nudity...for the stuff in things like Mass Effect or The Witcher that are a bit like bad HBO dramas. What I did not opt in to was naff Japanese kiddie porn and sex simulators...they are their own category and I 100% never opted in.

Additionally...if I am opted IN to mature content, why am I constantly faced with a button click to verify my age when viewing my game queue or certain items in the store? I was not prompted to verify my age on the simulated sex clips on "Paradise Trails" or "Do Hots". Fake spuff, big willies and all kinds of acrobatics...bracing stuf, no age verification. Classy.

I have never ticked any box...I guess when they invented the box 5, 6 10 years go, they assumed that if I was cool with "mature" (which I am), then I was cool with..er...x rated kiddie porn...which I am not. Unless I clicked it like Alan Partridge did.

if I want to see boobs, I'll go elsewhere on the internet...not a prude...just shocked to be served up such lurid trash when I wasn't expecting it (playing the summer game). Especially when I have to (inconveniently) verify my age to see fake zombie blood.

What is "cool" about checking an adult only box? It's a checkbox on a webpage. I'm over 40 years old...if I want to see sex, I'll go to a live show or watch it on the internet...I think you're changing what I have said to fit your own bizarre narrative/agenda.

Multiple major mainstream games fall under even the basic "nudity or sexual content" tab. Such as Cyberpunk 2077. "Adult sexual content" 100% does not capture all the damned porn. The pornographers are not marking their games correctly nor does Steam police it properly. Nor is their a tag applied to everything to block it that way (see "Cyberpunk 2077 is Nudity and Sexual Content")

Yeah, because it probably does have some content like that. It's like watching HBO's Rome or Game of Thrones. I am glad there is a seperate category for poorly rendered bukakke parties anyway. Keeps them away from me when I'm browsing games.

I also added tag blocks for Hentai and NSFW too just for good measure. On the tagging front, 100%.

I wonder if a friend of mine told me about some weird hentai game he was playing and when I couldn't find it he told me to check that box so I could read the moronic "story". Vague memory...that's embarrassing.

Still...violent content: need to verify age. Hardcore sex (go and check it out), no age verification. That is a discrepancy. Put me off my cornflakes seeing so much jizz splattered on a virtual environment. My "idea" in a nutshell? Serve up the same annoying "verify your age" things when you are serving up breasts and fanny munching. Quite a simple and elegant idea really.
