From where I am standing, adding non steam games is very straightforward. Not exactly sure what kind of improvement your are hinting at.
Click on Games, then click on add a non-steam game, then pick what you want to add.... how is that difficult?
The reason why I would like this is to be able to have all my games in the same place and be able to take advantage of great features likte Steam Input and Remote Play.
For some deeper info:
I know you can also add non-steam games by editing the file "shortcuts.vdf" in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[id]\config "
and that you can automate this with certain programs but it would be nice with a more official and simpler way of doing it.
There is also currently no way (atleast that I know of) of creating or managing collections in any way other than manually doing it.
I know that there have been programs like SteamGridDB Manager but that they no longer work and are no longer being developed, likely because of that it may break when steam updates or because of how limited steam currently is when it comes to this.
Im also not asking steam to be fully implement everything that could be needed for better non-steam game and collection management but to provide something like akin to an API to:
add/remove/change non-steam games in steam.
create, add to and remove games from a collection.
and let the community create a program to manage this like for example something like SteamGridDB Manager.
Did u find any tools or an easy way to massimport games? I am quite displeased to set up my system from complete scratch again as steam under linux is a very bad experiece right now.
