Yes, please, I'll be grateful.
You're asking too much, my friend. You're dealing with manchilds that know nothing about respect.
To be preemptive as a friendly notation; asking someone to not reply to you, will not make them doing so as harassment.
Werent able to change each other’s minds nor was I trying but I hope at least you and others can see and respect my point of view and Ive definitely heard others. There is a fear of being ostracized clearly which is something Ive contemplated about and in the end, Im fine with it. I take things literal as say what you mean so to me, the block button simply does not work as it implies it should and it really has nothing to do with other websites, platforms, real life. Anyway im likely to drive myself into a tangent so that’s enough for me.
No one here has a sexual innuendo in their name.
BUT I would certainly like it if quotes of blocked users were more akin to this.
This way as long as we have the person blocked, even if they're quoted by someone else we still can't see what they posted unless we chose to show the content. But alas, that would require a rework of quoting in general I think so I doubt they'll do it.
Very much so but this sadly relies on the will of the person doing the quoting and the most I've seen anyone bother editing a quote is to snip the content of the other person if it happens to be quite large.
That and personally, I like leaving the name in myself, good for keeping track of who is replying to who.
By how you responded, it seems you did not know of the connection, sorry you had to find out this way
When I made this name, I wasn't aware. Even knowing, it isn't a sexual innuendo.
That's like saying a name with "Tinder" in it is a sexual innuendo.
Bit hyper sensitive to get worried over text on a screen. Just scroll past it / ignore it. Not too difficult.
It's just odd how people nowadays cannot stand criticism or any form of negativity.
Couple years back you'd be told to just get over it, etc. Now it's.. block and never see the bad thing again. Bad thing is bad. Never see the bad thing ever because.. it's so bad. How sad.
I agree, context is what makes for innuendo, not just the presence of a potentially-qualifying word. Tho I know that some people ignore that first part/don't properly understand it, original person this chain stemmed from seemingly included, so I was just trying to point out where their reasoning likely comes from (while also having a silly quip at the end
This is the part where I'd try to find a way to interpret every word you just posted into innuendo ("We" is short for "Wee" etc), but I feel like that would stop being funny for everyone besides me after like 3-4 words.
And also cuz I don't wanna be too off-topic, a thought about the blocking stuff: Regarding the "Even if Steam updates the mutes to still hide posts that've been quoted, hiding posts is circumvented if they're blank quoted !" thing, in case anyone tries to use that as a defense for "And that's why we need full blocks instead!", it's not.
Even with "full" blocks, if someone you don't have blocked blank-quotes someone you do have blocked, that -still means you'll see the blocked person's post-. Pretty much the only way to fix that would be for the Steam Forums to stop being, y'know, forums.
If y'all want "full" blocks with all the loopholes patched so that you're truly sectioned off from a user you've blocked, you're gonna have to ask Steam to add a "Socials" section or etc to the Community header that's separate from the Discussions/Forum section and then just use that, because it's for all intents and purposes impossible to implement "full" blocks into a forum format.
