A character limit exists for a good reason.
*The entire first Act of Hamlet* is dominating you
I had to develope software in my career that had to accomodate increased name sizes from 'Charlotte NC' to Charlotte-Mecklenburg NC'. So get off ur little pony, pull ur pants up and Zip it up.
Guess what? This isn't software or data tracking. It's a repeated and predominantly displayed identifier that takes up screen space and time.
𝒫𝒾𝓇𝒶𝓉𝑒 ☠️ 𝒫𝑜𝒸𝒶𝒽
Special characters require two normal characters so a name like that is actually very long.
You may notice most games will not let you have an username that long.
yeah there's a 32-byte limit
32 Byte limit? A byte is the smallest unit of data on a system. In general, 1 byte = 1 ASCII character. If English is the character set. I mean that's what I read.
A Capital 'A' is a byte - 8 bits in binary = 01000001
If English is the character set then 32 byte limit would mean a 32 character name.
My beef is that I can only see 16 characters of my name (one short) displayed on my game(s). The Steam interface at least shows me my full 17 character name. And probably/maybe up to 20? Dont know, dont really care but 16 characters is old school WEAK. Bump it to 20!
Thanks peeps.
Yeah. And these Unicode characters 𝒾 𝒶 𝓉 𝑒 𝑜 take up four bytes each
Oh they are four? Sheesh!
