They worked for that, in case you didn't had access to the steam guard, before you could use the backup codes

So to get things straight...
We are currently upset about the mobile app not accepting a Backup Code which is a code dedicated to the occasion of someone losing (access to) their mobile device? I still can't see the issue really.
If you lost your phone due to demage or being stolen you cannot enter it there anyways. The Steam Desktop Client still accpet codes of any given length.
EDIT: Unless of course you applied to the client beta as well. So yeah the Client Beta is infact broken but a beta branch is to be considered "unfinished" and constructive feedback would be way more helpful than rant imo.
I think that's the gist of it here, yes.
Have to admit I'm a bit wondering of the exact circumstances too.
And in that case I agree:
if this is broken in the Client Beta, there should definitely be a bug report filed.
I contacted the support team. They answered "Upon checking, we have been updating the system and it should be working now.
But nothing has changed.
(example of bug which i know is not fixed for 2years : steam group events notifications)
Well; odds are not even 'good guy Valve' would get away with leaving login and account management features in a broken state. And in the eyes of many Valve already lost the actual 'good guy' moniker years ago thanks to screw-ups such as the paid-for workshop mods incident.
After the latest release of steam app beta they destroyed the function on steam guard on regular app named "My recovery code" on Android, now at least that's fixed
