To add a thread hide they need to work at the base of the tree.
Remember Steam is a Frankenstein monster of an old system being constantly updated.
Might be more complex than it look and a single mistake would make the whole forum unusable until fixed. That is waaaaaay worse than a couple people get mad because they simply cannot skip a thread.
If you clicked the link i provided you would have seen there were two developers on that thread (evelyn and Raintek) and the OP is neither banned nor the thread locked.
Using Steam means that you're in agreement with their terms regardless of who moderates.
I can't with the moderation in Steam. I did ignore them but the OP would ask them again and give wrong info or redundancy. I just unsubbed and let them do whatever spam they want on OP.
Non-constructive posting and baiting others into non-constructive arguments is itself against the rules and you can get banned for it.
Now you know.
Before I left in disgust years ago, it was at the point where only the boot lickers were safe, and any criticism, even elegantly articulated dissertations, was labelled as "unconstructive" by both the mods and by the developers.
Do you REALLY want to see that happen here?
It already happens here, and it happened even worse when volunteer mods were a thing, abusing their privileges to silence anyone who disagreed with them.
The problem here is that there are a group of regulars around that aim only to cause discord and act like children, act blatantly hostile towards other regulars and newcomers alike and for some reason, they don't (or rarely) get banned. Meanwhile other people get banned for writing stuff that wouldn't be deemed combative or even non-constructive to a reasonable person.
That's likely why this thread exists. I'ts not the first one. There have been quite a few in the last couple of months. People were expecting better moderation with the volunteers being "fired" but looks like things have barely improved.
The problem with moderation on Steam has always been how inconsistent it is and how their guidelines seem to not matter. It's a roll of the dice if one gets banned for for acting stupid on the Steam hub or not.
I take it you find circularity OK, in at least some circumstances.
There’s often going to be judgment involved in determining constructivity.
Wasn't trying to define what "non-constructive" means, since I assumed I was talking to an adult.
Was just addressing your idea that some non-constructive feedback isn't rule breaking.
How many groups of 〝regulars〞 are there on this forum? 🤔
Also, you've addressed me as a «regular» a few times before too, even though I've only been here a month 🤣
I'm talking about the group of regulars who have been labelled by other regulars as the "bad actors".
How many groups of regulars are there? I dunno and I don't care. They are referred to that way because they all share the same toxic behavior patterns.
Obviously, not all regulars behave like this.
And I don't recall ever interacting with you. But if you have been here for a month, and you'd been active throughout that month, you are a regular, too.
There's definitely some toxicity present on this forum. Just a couple of examples: I once asked "what is a neutral opinion? i don't understand" and was immediately labelled as a "braindead regular" who "doesn't understand obvious stuff". Or another time someone just started waffling on about how women "are naturally indecisive when recommending games on Steam, because all they play is animal crossing and stardew valley" at me out of nowhere...
So yeah, not very constructive either
Whoever replied to you must've noticed you weren't asking that question in good faith and simply attempting to derail the thread into a pointless and non-constructive argument about the definition of the word "neutral", a word that needs no explanation to someone older than 13, which you must be in order to create a Steam account.
You seem to have a good grasp of the English language, too. Was the user supposed to believe that you just didn't know what the word "neutral" meant instead of coming to the obvious conclusion that you were playing games?
Usually the definition, or an explanation of what a neutral opinion is is found either in the OP, or among the 1st few posts.
Nah the convo was about having a "neutral opinion" on a piece of art or entertainment. It was literally the topic of the discussion 🙂
Oh I see now that it was you, welp so long!
