All posts in the post history are public for everyone on the internet to view. That is not changing.
Current and future state.
How would you do one without the other?
And still be able to look it up with the URL.
/posthistory/
Why?
I'll add these for fun...

Nothing on my profile is public except for my artwork, reviews, screenshots and a video.
People hide their private parts because it is against the law to show them in public in most places.
For curtains, mainly to stop the funiture from fading because of the sunlight.
Some people, maybe. But it's not like everyone's sitting there at home thinking "I wish I could show off my genitals but I guess I'd better follow the damn law", and if the law were removed tomorrow everyone would suddenly become comfortable with seeing each other's junk.
The law isn't the only thing holding them back. Laws are expressions and results of cultural ideas and values; they don't exist in isolation, we make them, for reasons.
Privacy is a value that people have an appreciation for in a large variety of circumstances regardless of any law being in place. If you seriously don't think people actually enjoying privacy in their homes and want to explain everything as being about furniture maintenance, I mean, you're entitled to your view, I guess, but I don't agree. Fences get built above eye level for a reason.
You own that stuff you are talking about.
You don't own posts on the forums.
Second: so what? It doesn't matter anyway. I don't own the number of hours played in my games. I don't own my friends list or my inventory display page either, and there are privacy settings for those - which also, notably, can't just be accessed through the /friends/ or /inventory/ URL appendices from outside their chosen level of accessibility, because people have thought of that.
