If I need to delete a posting in a forum that doesn't have a delete item, I end up removing the existing text, and just put something like "<deleted>" into its place...
Also, I've recently installed the "What's app" messenger thingy. Turns out, it has some kind of mini-description, and the default wasn't all that great -- "I'm using What's app" or something similar. So, I removed that -- only to learn that you can't; you have to have a text. Now, my description is ".".
People aren't going to do the things you want if you prevent them from doing they want. They'll just use workarounds...
Otherwise, instead of nothing you'd see a comment that just says "." or something like this.
Also, someone might just be trolling you and stealing your dopamine rush.
sorry to hear this is happening.
I would not be happy if the "delete" option was gone. I don't delete comments often, but there are times where it is more appropriate than editing with a big "Ooopsie- someone typed faster than me and already gave the same answer I was giving". Since pages don't refresh in real time, and only refresh after you hit "post comment", being able to delete a duplicate or redundant comment helps to keep a thread cleaner.
Report them via their profile then.
Yeah, they should do this instead.
This can be used to troll across the entire community platform of Steam.
Anywhere that you can receive notifications from - someone can do this.
Of course, it's not necessarily trolling if it happens, some people just reconsider posting something a bit too late.
I get about 2 or 3 notifications per week from a certain game hub that I'm subscribed to because people create topics then retract them before I wake up.
