Wishlist owned games
I know this has been suggested before but I still don't understand why is it a thing. We should have the ability to wish list games after purchasing, it makes sense as if you like the game you probably want to buy it for a friend when its on sale.
It is tedious to have to manually check all the games you might want to buy for friends and I end up forgetting a lot of them.

If for whatever reason that is not possible then what about a separate wishlist for gift giving?

isn't this why they should be using their wishlist? just because you like the game, doesn't mean they will.

It's not a thing because Valve either has no interest in adding it or they haven't prioritised it enough to add it.

Personally I'd like to see multiple wishlists with different privacy settings for them. A wishlist I keep for gifting games to my kids doesn't have to be public, for example.

But as with everything, just because we suggest things or want things, doesn't mean Valve has to add them.

Amazon also allows for multiple wish lists.

Then use amazon. If it is on Valve's list of things to do it will happen in Valve Time™

As stated above, that's what their wish list is for. If you can't take a few seconds to look on your friends wish list to see what they want, then it isn't worth your time.

Yep. And probably the best model for this right now is itch.io where you can not only have multiple list but (if I recall correctly) they can have individual settings as well as settings for whether they show on your profile.

I have one for games that I want to buy and one for games I'd just like to keep an eye on.

This may likely cause confusion, as you have to keep track why you wishlist the game 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc time in the first place, but also have to figure out if the said friend will like the same games as you, or not, and top of that have to remember whom liked it that you wanted to gift it to as well. You should be asking for making custom sub category wishlist, so you have multiple wishlist under account rather than just repeating wishlist under same wishlist with your other wishlists.

Also if you wanted to give something to someone, just visit their wishlist, that's the whole point why they have their own wishlist. You can tell them about a game you want to recommend, and they can wishlist it, when times comes you wish to gift something to someone, just visit their wishlist, not only you know what games they be interested, but you know what games you may likely to gift to them as well.

But dead set on keep things track, could make a 2nd account for wishlist only as a workaround, maybe they do something with wishlists.

Yeah, I don't like the follow feature on Steam. I much rather have a second wishlist for the Early Access games, not yet released games or games I'm mildly interested in that I follow.

I don't get email notifications about games on sale when they're on someone elses wishlist.

That true, but there is a work around to that is using a 2nd account to get email about it, but also can wishlist games wish to gift.

Probably not a thing because its not John Carpenters 1982 The Thing.
Also because it would show people what they could of saved if they would of waited for the sale. I noticed games do not show you the price after purchase. Very annoying but undoubtedly a market scheme.

Cheers!

This would be extremely beneficial. I run an alternate account just to track potential gift purchases for mostly family. A more streamlined and convenient solution would always be appreciated.

But the problem is you dont receive notifications for it, do you expect me to check them every day when I dont even do that for mine? I depend on steam notifications and emails for such things, thats why adding games I own to my own wishlist would be beneficial.
