Get rid of the Jester icon and "this review is funny" option

I mean honestly, on top of the unhelpful, meme and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reviews that I see in general for a number of games. The last thing reviews needed are these two and why? Because there's going to be people going around with a level of malice behind some of the actions that they do. You can give an honest review that's constructive criticism, someone finds it funny. They also toss a jester icon on it.

Does Valve at all care about reviewing in general? No, they don't. But they kinda should if it's going to be there at all as a feature. Epic Games has it right by not having user reviews, is because of the childish mentality numerous Steam users has in chipping at and degrading the value of what a review is supposed to be.

A review is supposed to be a guiding beacon to suggest to someone whether or not a game is worth getting. But it just seems like, as with everything online, to be taken as some opinion which it is. Except, if I've learned anything from the internet at all, is that people don't like opposing opinions. They just want circlejerks and validation.

You mind as well not have a reviewing section at all, Valve. It's being treated as a toy.

Get rid of steam awards

They're just used for bullying which encourages negativity and trolls spamming bait posts to trick gullible people into giving them free steam points because said people attempt to bully those trolls. It's getting really annoying at this point.

I see bait threads and award bullies in multiple communities multiple times a day. And yes, I've been harassed by these people specifically. It's a form of harassment that moderators don't care about either. You can't even reject awards. They can just publicly brand you as a clown for everyone to see. That's dumb.

I guarantee out of all awards given out, 90% of them are the jester one. Mostly because "clown" is a popular insult nowadays.

gaslighting level responses are given, such as "but you get points so be happy about it"
or accusations of fishing for more awards are made
ultimately the flamebaiting leads to deleted posts, locked threads, and bans

typical advice of "ignore it" or "use the report feature" achieve nothing

I guess I could personally live with having the choice to disable them as a receipient. That doesn't stop trolls making bait threads but at least everyone can choose to protect themselves from it.

People will use things to claim it shows something while others will use the same one to claim other stuff and it happens on alot of websites with these awards, there's no solution that is easily solvable as its up to the person giving the gift to say how they are using it and the person being given to claim how they feel it represents their stuff via the award.

Being able to stay anonymous while branding someone as a Clown with the intent to insult them is bullying. But feel free to elaborate how it isn't, i'll be waiting.

You purposely choose something as unspecific as "interacting" to try and strengthen your Argument when it's really just dumb. Interacting with a Person can Be literally anything in the World. Hug. Joking around. Murder.

And since i See it coming already: before you try to flip it around and straight up claim I compare Steam awards to murder and ignore every other point of this comment: I don't. And if you reply, actually reply instead of making a pointless comment with no actual content in it please.

It could Be something simple as upvotes and downvotes, something less visual that you can't actually target at someone to insult them. Not all awards are Bad. But you'll find people tend to use the same 2-3 ones and there's a reason behind it if you bother thinking about it.

Try again and be more specific if you wanna make a good point.

yep this is where common sense comes in to play
dont bully by giving out awards in the first place, dont disable awards that only promotes bullying
you have a brain use it and dont bully!
