Way to disable all controller input for games?
Using Steam's controller configuration support has been very useful and enjoyable for many of my games I like to play with controllers, letting me use a PS4 stick on Killer Instinct for instance, a game that only wants 360 input. However when playing games like PUBG, simply having ANY controller plugged in makes the game use controller notifications on screen that are useless to me, and many other games can have issues with controllers plugged in if the developers are more amateur.

If there was some sort of way to disable all controller input (perhaps in the "Edit Steam Controller Config..." tab or below it when using Steam's controller wrappers), and have the game act as if there are only mouse and keyboard input devices, it could make enjoyment of these games better for those of us used to Steam extensive controller support, which I have appreciated greatly!

Some people do not have easy access to USB ports on their towers. Also, Windows 7 which I am using often assigns my 360 controller to Port 2 if I unplug and replug it, then requiring a computer reboot to make it Port 1 again. Already we can disable rumble through the Steam Controller options on an overriding basis, why not all controller. Just more options for end users

i doubt the tools exist to make games not recognize u have controller plugged in. steam controller just pops up like any other xbox controller, aka, unplug.

If someone cannot easily get to their usb ports then buy a usb extending chord.

Resurrecting this.

Try right clicking the steam game, clicking properties, in the general tab press set launch options, add: -nocontroller

Hopefully that works for you guys

You are a god! I wanted to play split screen borderlands but my gamepad worked in 2 windows. I'm wasted 3 days to solve this problem (:

To disable any connected controllers, even virtual joysticks and the like, for specific steam games, open the game's properties (rightclick, properties) and on the "General" tab, switch "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to "Forced On" (yes, "on", not "off".)

I have a virtual joystick installed in order to enable joystick curves for Elite Dangerous, but it messes up controls in a number of other games. This killed the problem without having to disable the virtual devices in the task manager all the time. It also disabled my HOTAS for that game, so if you want to only disable a specific device, this won't work.
