I hate it that you ahve to at least spend 5 bucks on steam to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ be able to add friends on steam. I think that it is unnecessary and stupid. Hope you change that.

Sorry, but that's the exact reason why there's a purchase gate on a few of the Steam features. Because unscrupulous people were creating free accounts to harrass and scam people.

It was $0 before. The spam on the forums and invites were way out of control. $5 at least gives users some kind of safety net from spam accounts.

but for people like me ,who cant spend money on games, it is not very good. Many of my friends have steam but I can't add them because of that so I am very pissed :)

They can add you. ANnd you'll be on each other's lists.. Though if you can't scrounge $5. You should be working, not gaming. Hell you could probably find as much on the ground after taking a good long walk.

Valve is a business, NOT a charity.. it is normal for companies to restrict certain services to paying customers


and $5 isn't exactly a fortune.. get a part time job or a paper route, or heck you could probably find that much in change on the ground at a shopping mall
