Other than the convenience factor and increased accessibility remote play together will provide, I believe this suggestion would help Steam gain a real edge over them in terms of functionality.
It's a new feature being added to Steam, beginning with the beta in a week's time.
Remote Play Together doesn't require giving someone access to your steam account or anything shady. You start up a game like street fighter, send your friend an invite for remote play together and then steam sends them the game visuals but also passes their gamepad input to the host.
Steam will implement this in a way that only safe known controller inputs will be passed to the host machine and NOT keyboard or mouse inputs so it's not a risky thing in the slightest.
My suggestion only adds functionality on top of this.
To give the host the ability to switch the controller ordering through the steam overlay.
Enabling singleplayer games to have enhanced functionality.
By doing this I believe it would encourage a lot of people such as myself to play more of the exclusively singleplayer games in my steam library as it will feel less of an isolated experience and gives players the opportunity to connect more with their steam friends which is what the steam platform is all about.
Hopefully the Steam Development team take notice.
