Just an irresponsible space usage, and I think a lot of users would get confused as to why they've lost all their subbed addons, etc. Or get frustrated with it asking each time.
It doesn;'t unsubscribe you, it just doesn't apply them. Those configurations are saved locally in the game's local settings so you should be able to have the same game on two different machines with different mods active even while sharing a common subscribe list.
At least I know it works this way in the Beam dog games, and the shadowrub games. and Darkest dungeon. I can't speak from personal experience beyond those games. But check it out in the game's forums or just check the game's settings menus.
