Hide/delete badges and level
What's the reason Steam don't allow us to show only info we really want? It's a very simplistic feature, a no brainer solution. We should be able to hide our account level and delete badges. It's a feature people will KEEP ASKING FOR until its done.

Customers of Steam eventually craft badges, but sometimes they don't want it anymore. Sometimes they don't want that very image attached permanently to their account - and there is no catch - customers don't need to point a reason for that. "Why did you craft it?? :steammocking:", damn, does it concern you?

If i want to perma-delete a game from my account, i can do it - and i don't need to explain ♥♥♥♥ to nobody.

We are customers, we need options.

But nobody has asked. If they had, you could have just posted your comment in that discussion instead of starting a whole new thread. Nobody really cares what badges anyone else has. Anyone can buy cards for any game they want and craft any badge they want. So having a badge in no way tells anyone that you own a particular game. And as for your level, nobody cares either. It doesn't really mean anything to anyone else. So there's no real point in hiding it.

Also, Steam isn't going to let people delete badges they've crafted because of the inevitable flood of support tickets that will come from people who 'accidentally' deleted a badge. Or someones account got hacked and the hacker deleted them all. It's more trouble than it's worth for Steam to add a feature that virtually nobody is asking for and will lead to more problems down the road.

It's always the same when we talk about cosmetics, "nobody really cares". How can you say that, any poll I didn't attend? So, how much did you spend crafting your badges? Is it really fair to say only your point of view cares and mine not? Creation and uncreation may come from the same motivation.

Steam will inevitable add this in the future, profile overhaul it's the next stop for Steam as the community grows. It may be a minor wishlist now, but makes all sense.
Most of the topics containing that matter are dead becuase of course Steam has other spine problems and yes, those are isolated cases so no need to concern about floods of tickets.

About the hacking plea, i'm not in love. You see, there is no support for accidentally deleted games - there will be none for badges. It's about deleting badges (not hiding) and change your profile at your will, so the whole plot its as cosmetic as crafting them.

It's funny because every damn proposal customers post here, it seems like there are always a Valve employee answering. I guess they could handle the "monstruous flood of support tickets". Steam it's pretty healthy, imo. And as you say, "nobody really cares" - why should you worry?

It's not that we attended any poll or something like that - it's that we've seen this time and time again in the forums. Every time someone suggests this idea, the thread gets left open to see if it will attract the flood of posts from users that will show enough interest to make it worth Valve doing the necessary work.

And then the thread dies from lack of interest as no-one else seems to be bothered about this. Seriously, most threads on this topic get less than 10 replies - and that's counting posts from people saying that it's not a great idea. There's no support for the idea, it's not inevitable and the vast bulk of the community really couldn't care less.

Seriously, I spend a bit of time having to check people's profiles to get info on their games, VAC bans, etc. and the vast bulk of profiles that I check don't even have a background set up. That's the reality of the situation - you, and the rest of the people asking for this function, are a very, very, VERY tiny minority of the user base. That's why this idea hasn't been taken up yet and why it probably won't be taken up EVER.

And by the way, I've never seen a Valve employee post in this forum... in fact, I can't remember the last time I saw a Valve employee actually post in any forum. They do read them though.

Levels and badges IMPROVE, why remove them or hide them? isn't your steam level supposed to be something you showoff and is proud of? :bbtcat:

Hey, man. Found your posts on the matter when I searched for how to delete Steam badges, hoping to find some way to do this. Appreciate your effort. It's a shame they locked your other big post which was getting lots of attention.

I made my own big post on the matter, inspired by yours, after Steam support refused my help ticket to delete badges. I despise not being able to clean my profile from anything I don't like having anymore. It's unacceptable for any company to act like this toward their customers. I don't know what's more pathetic - people not being able to grasp a simple idea of having full control over your profile or Steam support saying they can't delete what a customer asks from a profile. What's the poing of offering a feature to a customer if neither you, nor a customer can control it?

I would hate to resort to making a new account just to be free from things I don't like anymore, just to do what should be a simple option for any part of my profile - clean it. I know most people won't get it, by it bothers me that they refuse to do something even when asked via a help ticket. How many more years we need to wait for Valve to finally take responsibility for the feature they created?

Here's my post about this if you're interested: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/1652169858536522588/

Nice to know yours is still getting buzz even nowadays.

Maybe they are finally listening to it.
