IMPROVING STEAM PROFILES (youtube videos integrated to custom info box showcase)

i wish they add the youtube videos to the custom info box showcase, so if you want to enlight your profile with the video clip of your favorite artist you can, it already work in groups chat box, it could be real cool what do you think?

Probably because your profile is about you and not promoting other peoples videos. Which is why we have our own video showcase.

People might not like that.

I think Valve want users to generate content and attract developers, so they introduced profile with game history, award system and game curators. If we were to play random videos it defeats that purpose.

Maybe they can create a next level content add-in for developers. For example we can use points to unlock a unique game soundtrack to our profile. The game backgrounds and emoicons don't really give that much of an impact. Most are badly designed and poor quality.

Not important to me, at least not at this moment, because we can't even play videos, because of the age rating on them. It's not possible to even see those videos in Steam, also not in groups. So, there is no point to add them to your custom info box either, because they won't play anyway, unless you use another browser, and then any video linked to Steam would still refuse to play regardless, because there is no way to get a functional age gate, when linking videos to Steam.

But are those videos that you speak of age gated videos linked to Steam? Because PG3-videos, or without any age rating on them, cause no issues. But any M-rated video, that is not meant for children, refuses to play regardless, when they are linked to Steam.

and as far as i know there are even more kids using youtube than kids using steam, so i don't see where the thread is about that, the age control works well from youtube on 3rd party media on twitter, on facebook, on vk... so i dont see the point

Well, they should still fix that first, before doing anything else with the videos, in my opinion, because I do not want my videos to target or be directed at an under-aged audience.
