How many users do you think Steam has?
How many do you think are in a similair situation to you, sitting on tens of thousands of points?
How much do you think it would cost Valve to give away that much free money?
Begging? I didn't start this post to 'Beg' for 'Free' stuff... They are giving us reward points on our purchases, other markets that do this allow those reward points to be used to purchase the goods they offer as a loyalty reward. I am only suggesting that if Steam is going to offer these points they allow us to do the same and not just stickers to put on your membership cards.
You'd be surprised how easy meme content is awarded with hundreds of awards.
There have been a few threads complaining about it the last few months.

Literally farming points with junk.
The amount I proposed doesn't have to be exact and regardless of how many users and people sharing my situation there are these Points are based on the Money we are giving steam... if they were based on hours played or something like that I wouldn't have suggested this. However they are giving us reward points on purchases and we only have access to valueless decorations to spend them on... in the long run they wouldn't lose out on much more than they would if a game goes on sale because we have to put in money to get the Points and then at most we'd get 1 purchase out of them before having to pile up more.
Lots of people have this great idea that you've proposed. Many of them make the exact same statements "they don't just want free stuff", "other markets allow those reward points to be used to purchase goods". Almost no one stop to consider that Valve had the option and chose not to implement it. Why didn't the implement it? You might want to get a handle on those reasons to help your idea out.
At the end of the day you can't avoid reasons behind decisions already made just because you want something different. You have to be able to address those in addition to your suggested changes.
Well lets be clear, you didn't give Steam money. You bought a game, and you got a game. And you also get some worthless points to buy useless digital trinkets for fun. And your argument is Steam should use those worthless points to subsidize game purchases because they wouldn't lose that much money?
Well I'm not a Business major, but sounds like a bad business logic to me. And I doubt it's the kind of thinking that has help Valve to be successful.
At the end of the day how do you address that Valve tinkered with the idea for years and didn't implement points for games? It's clearly a deliberate choice on their part. Not an oversight.

Okay..:
1. Give something back. It was an exchange of equal value. Its not like you gave them money out of the goodness of your heart. You gave them money and they gave you a game in exchange.
2. The Points *are* the rewardd for shopping at steam.
That's your problem m8. I know plenty of peopkle who use those coupons and I rforone like being able to quickly pick up some nice swag.
Valve is not going to give you back more money than they make from you.
Lets do some math. 1000 points is a $10 of spending. DO you know how much Valve got from that $10's?. $3-$2 That's how much they got from your whopping $10 purchase. And out of that comes the transaction fees, their overhead etc. And you want them to give you back a third to a half of their take so you can acquire a game a transaction they will make no money from mind you.
Yeah no. At best you may be able to buy a coupon during the next sale but considering that seems to have been done away with I wouldn't hold my breath.
