Hidden nicknames of those who liked the post and screenshots
This is bad, it is illogical, it is inconvenient.

It's very convenient to watch those who are active, afterwards, to thank in return. You hid it.
Better to make it like on, for example, Facebook, when all can be seen, who liked your post or artwork, or screebshot. In case of privacy, give ppl right to choose it by changing in settings.

However, if this is an irreversible innovation, then at least give an author the opportunity to see who liked their work by notification in "activity" or somehow else, so the only one who'll see this is gonna be the author on itsown.

Thanks

Yes, it is funny, it means you likely messaged them as I doubt they randomly came across this post to agree with you.

I chose many years ago to have a private profile, because I can have it that way. Before I even used the Steam Forums, so what's the real reason for the hatred of someones choice?

You're not going to find profile comments even if it was public, my friends rarely use the forum as well. So what about private profiles makes people "cowards", exactly? My account is over 16 years old. I don't want or need it to be Public to make points against people, I just pointed out that if you had a good idea, you wouldn't need your friends to back you up because you asked them to. 3 of them last posted in Oct/Nov 2020, one made their first post just on this thread, the guy posting below me last posted Jan 14th and Dec 17th. You really want me to think they randomly stumbled across this and that you didn't ask them?

And does your friends supporting you give your idea validity? No it does not.

Private profile = Privacy.

Wanting a name displayed is a privacy violation unless the person agrees to have their name shown.

The default is off for a reason.

It's funny that most of the people supporting you are on your friends list.

As I've said, numerous times in numerous threads, "Steam is not those other sites", facebook is utter trash like twitter, Steam doesn't need to be like other sites or services. Not showing it, is completely and perfectly fine with me. Whenever Steam changes something, usually people are abusing said function.

Steam is a Game Store with a Forum, and you have a forum profile with gaming related information, it's not facebook, it never needs to be like it.

Nobody is saying that Steam should be like Facebook, it's said that an author of any artwork should have such opportunity to view who left a rate, like on Facebook, we're talking about function here. That's just illogical, then why do they (steam) bothered with this "like / dislike" , also they've added "awards" recently. Then prob, they should remove this rating at all.

Same as with your profile, you decided to hide it, you had a choice, same here, it would be nice to have a choice. I think that's a normal wish.

Posts are not artwork, even with artwork you generally don't see or hear from all the people visiting a gallery, you just hear if people liked it or not. There is no need to see who likes it, which has been clear in the first week it was highly abused resulting in this action being taken.

If you absolutely desire feedback from specific people, allow comments, make a group for the work, etc. Or post in an appropriate area where people can just make comments within that, solutions exist. Everything outside of who you know, is just someone that happens to like the material. This thread is a great example of why you don't need to know who.

Ahaha! Actually, in Steam, EVERY user has a personal profile. According to the rules, it is not allowed to others. Family access doesn't count, it's different.

You both have hidden profiles. I think this is one person who writes from two accounts.

It's a private profile. It's been a private profile. Shogun has also likely seen me around here before far before this thread ever existed. Shoguns is also private, notice how when you visit our profiles it literally says "This profile is private."? Shogun is not on my friends list, before you come up with an assumption.

Many people have private profiles, is everyone that comes in with one magically going to be the "same person"?

I don't need to have more than 1 account to make counter points against you, or anyone.

Not a huge difference in here,I emphasize on the fact that steam gave him this opportunity 👀 to make it private or public

Did you forget your comment or the request you are making which is to display user names.

Secondly the choice of displaying the name of a user who leaves a like defaults to private because you DO NOT need to know.

I’m gonna be short here. Why do you need these ratings and awards if you can’t see who did it? What’s the point??

There is a very big difference - you do not need to know and that includes likes.

Privacy is on the side of the user not on those who deem social media a godsend.

+1 like the idea and want to be public about it

But hey, they are going to remove showing us the last 3 people who liked content in the feeds of a social network, but meanwhile are still going to leave showing everyone the names of the last people who likes our lewd Steam Store purchases in the same activity feed of a social network. :steamfacepalm: ❔❕❔❕ Anyway, the decision making for removing the feature makes no sense to me, but then I don't expect any less from a company who just dose things and gives no official reasoning. So I guess +1 comment and emote on items we like with a rate, as that is an even more a social thing to do, thus leaving our names anyway. The content owners can decide to delete them or not. Or Valve at a later date can determine more, privacy, indecency, and that it's all just spam anyway, (those emotes in the points store, and market) and then decide to hide the names of those who leave comments and use emotes on social content also, just because they can. :steamthis:
