Steam Stats / Achievement Showcase
On the following topic, I've already made a Steam Support ticket, however they were a bit clueluess and unable to help, so they suggested to highlight this issue with great impact to this forum.

This is regarding the Achievement Showcase:

The following games were already or have recently been removed from the Storefront. However, prior to the March 2nd update, these games would count to your achievement totals. Now, all removed games from the storefront don't count anymore. This is unfair as I've paid for these games and these games have never had the logo "Profile features limited" at the moment of buying. There's been 100s of hours of progress now lost with this 1 update. By removing a Steam feature from my purchase, I suppose I'm eligible for a refund. However, I would rather keep these games in my library, even if they are removed from the store front, but have them count again (as always was the case) to the Achievement Steam stats that is part of the profile features.

wow, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 100s of hours suddenly gone and all for nothing. I feel your pain. Are they even allowed to do this? Because you bought these games at the time when they did not have "profile features limited" on the store front. Could become a nice legal battle, I believe by right they might owe you a refund for all games they remove....

ST 21 hours ago
well yes, as stated these games were already removed previously from the storefront, but their Steam features remained in tact until March 2nd.
If Steam is going to remove any game now from the Store front, and it happens often, it means our Steam achievements will no longer count! That's a very demotivating thought... A platform exists on the basis of continuity and security that you don't lose your progress...

Jossy 21 hours ago
For me personally: 108 games are removed in total (215.627 achievements)

lol this is Steam being ridiculous again.

For those who don't care about achievements, please bare in mind that there are alot of people that do. If you don't care, then this topic is not for you. For achievement hunter, this practice is considered very dangerous as this means that at any time, you can lose your stats from now on, whenever Steam decides (or has to) remove games from their store.

I suppose this is a matter of Steam coders implementing a wrong filter. It should be an easy fix. If this is intentional, however, I fully and wholeheartedly support re-instating the original functionality.

+1 give us our achievements back!
sarahconnor618 Mar 4, 2021 @ 11:10pm
+1 I also support this

There is a reddit post about some guy (Xeinok?) and he lost 800k achievements... for someone so dedicated (whether he cheated them or not) this update could drive him to potential suicide I suppose??? Imagine losing 16 years of your work and dedication all at once....

First of all before you folks want to tear me apart...
I am an achievement hunter myself

Now my two cents...
It is true that there are a lot of people being upset about those cheap and trashy games being removed from their counts. However the reason why people complain about it is because they mainly bought it solely for that reason because they are easy to beat and you get hundrets if not thousands of achievments sometimes only for starting the game.

And the latter is the main reason why there are people other achievement hunters out there that complained about these games actually being counted before. As many hunters try to beat harder games and actually want to "achieve" something when beating achievements.
"Start your game" is not worth an achievement - not to mention 5000 achievements - and therefore many people - myself included - are very happy about this change

Hi Sazzouu, this is about the bigger picture. I agree with you about the Trash games, however this update applies to EVERY game that is removed from the Steam Store. There are games removed for other reasons other than being an achievement spam game, and those genuinly took time and effort to complete. They now no longer count?
Jossy Mar 5, 2021 @ 12:27am
I give you some examples:

- Woodle Tree Adventures  8 achievements
- FlChess 9 achievements
- Grindzones 11 achievements
- Pigmentum 11 achievements
- Hard Cube 13 achievements
- AppleSnake: Christmas Story 15 achievements
- Base Squad 49 17 achievements
- Gravity Wars 31 achievements
- Arcane PreRaise 36 achievements
- Arcane Reraise 36 achievements
- !4RC4N01D! 1 39 achievements
- Sudoku 76 achievements

These are not the 5000 achievement spam games you are talking about.

As far as I can tell it only applies to banned games. Maybe including games where the publisher ended the contracts with Valve entirely for whatever other reason than just breaking the contract
Jossy Mar 5, 2021 @ 12:29am
and please note that this does not combat the seperate problem of achievement spam games, as those that are NOT removed from the store, continue to count if their profile features are not limited.

Woodle Tree Adventures has a new game Woodle Tree Deluxe
so the original game was just deleted for whatever reason from the storefront...
So I've lost completing these 8 achievements for no reason other than Steam putting a new filter in place. Let's not link 2 seperate issues.

That is a completely different problem actually.
The games in question right here are those that were solely published with the purpose of spaming achievments. There are actually fun games around that spam achievmements ranging in wide ranges of efforts to make - Payday 2, ZUP games and so on - but these actually serve a purpose besides spamming achievements.

Those "Achievement Hunter"-titles for example. On average the can be maxed out in less than 2 hours. And each of them deliver 5000 achievements. So putting them all together you have around 30 games that are pretty much the EXACT SAME GAME over and over again. So basically you could make 150.000 achievements and 30 perfect games in about 60 hours of playtime. Apparently you could parallelize them so it would be even less but lets assume you only play one game at a time

This is WAY beyond what achievement spamming games are still out there

Removing Achievements of deleted games is a punishment to Steam customers.
Pllease restore the achiecvements adding perfect games and showcase from deleted games. People have bought the games legally from Steam store, or legal; bundles or from developers or shops. If Steam has stopped the games on store it is not buyers fault. many have spent hundreds of hours to work and get all achievements and now all that hard work is removed in a blink of eye. It is not encouraging. It discourages people from playing if they fear a game can one removed in future and all that work thrown out. It makes the whole achievemebnts system redundante and this move acts as a punishment to players who worked forn their achievements.

There is a lot of disaapoibntment in people who have lost perfect achievements by hundred and thousands. I request Valve to relook and restore this aspect again.

It works this way because customers showed they were willing to happily hand money over for nothing more than just getting achievements and that was encouraging devs to spam trash for easy money.

Worry more about the game than +1s on an unimportant counter that is nothing more than bragging rights.

they should rather remove all of these achievement spam games, so the showcase will only contain real achievements.

Many games were not trash or Spambot games so who gets tod ecide that? Also Steam allowed certain games to be sold then removed them then why penaklzie customers? In that acse refund thsoe gam,es also if Valve thinks they allowed spam. Its not fault of customers. Steam, allowed sale of a product, so blaming customers is certainlt not the way out, when they decide to remove featrues and achievements that customers also paid for or worked for.

Tomorrow if Doom or Serious sam or Batman Arkham Asylum is removed from store why should their acjhievements be marked as spam bot and deleted for example? Who decides this?
