Please allow "remote play together" for all games including non-steam
I know theoretical drawback would be game developers not wishing this feature, sales impact... BUT in reality people will just install Parsec software to play whatever they want. And at the end the only people who are victims are linux users because Parsec does not currently support linux hosting. I personally plan to fully switch to linux and get better internet at some point so it's sad for me to be unable to host old non-steam games this way.

Developers own the game. Valve won't force features down their throat, that's bad for business.

It can be done for non-Steam games.

Edit: Ninja'd

There are workarounds...

Even more reason to get official support then, without annoying tinkering or worrying about future anti-workaround measures.

Existence of Parsec (and maybe Moonlight for nvidia users?) makes it all irrelevant IMO. Personally I do not see this feature making sense as "specific game related", but that's up to Valve to decide.

The devs have to implement it on some level preferably and Valve literally has no interest in doing this for games that are not sold or payed through their service. That'd be like KFC giving you free soda refills for a meall you bought at McDonalds.

There is no need to implement it at all on dev side since hacky workarounds to run custom games work. It is just universal feature behind artificial gatekeep that could be removed as it can be easily bypassed by non-linux users anyway by using Parsec.

If the existence of Parsec makes it all irrelevant anyway, why does it then matter what Valve does?

I have not tried it yet

It matters for linux users (small minority of userbase), and I want to make switch to that operating system, which is unsupported for hosting by Parsec and probably won't be anytime soon.

Biingo. And whille workaround do exist.
The best outcomes usually come when there is official implementation on alll sides.

I saw this link somewhere. Unsure if it works https://github.com/m4dEngi/RemotePlayWhatever
