Even more reason to get official support then, without annoying tinkering or worrying about future anti-workaround measures.
Existence of Parsec (and maybe Moonlight for nvidia users?) makes it all irrelevant IMO. Personally I do not see this feature making sense as "specific game related", but that's up to Valve to decide.
There is no need to implement it at all on dev side since hacky workarounds to run custom games work. It is just universal feature behind artificial gatekeep that could be removed as it can be easily bypassed by non-linux users anyway by using Parsec.

It matters for linux users (small minority of userbase), and I want to make switch to that operating system, which is unsupported for hosting by Parsec and probably won't be anytime soon.
The best outcomes usually come when there is official implementation on alll sides.
