Ability to add reactions to comments.
Would love if we could use emoticons to react to profile and guide comments, like how Discord allows reactions for messages. Sometimes there's just not enough to say or it feels repetitive to reply to similar comments, but I still want people to know I've read and acknowledged them so they don't feel like they're being ignored.

You can already use Steam emoticons and even regular emojis in comments.

3, 2, 1... pile of ♥♥♥♥ emoticons just saw a huge spike in usage. People start complaining about the emoticon reactions they've received. Mayhem ensues.

That requires posting a comment though. I interpret the suggestion the OP made as something similar to the current awards.

Perhaps Steam could limit reactions to be from the owner of the profile or guide?

You're right, I was suggesting something more akin to awards rather than posting a whole new comment.

On second thought limiting reactions to the owner would stunt reactions from other people if it's a multi-person conversation...

Well, maybe if Steam just has a handful of defaults we can react with, like a :) or :( or whatever.

I also want to clarify I don't want these to use points like awards though, I just wanted some free reactions.

The creator being the only one able to use emoticons as a reaction would cut down on emoticon trolling and give them a way to respond to users in a simple way. I'd say that's an improvement and would be providing more engagement. :cozyspaceengineersc:

Kind of like seeing in Youtube comments that the Channel has liked/responded.

Sure, there'd be someone complaining that the creator is trolling (which could be possible) and some that want the same for those posting. But you can never please everyone.
