Absolutely not. I don't want to hear crap coming over the mic.

Also pretty sure WHEN the RIAA find this stuff, either you/others and Discord will be sued for copyright infringement. Because you are broadcasting something that you don't actually have the legal right to broadcast.

This would annoy the heck out of my. I found it annoying in the past when people played songs over the mic. If I want to listen to music while I play, I will play music on my end and it will be music I want to listen to.

There was a huge discussion about this already with music on peoples profiles and how allowing anything custom to be uploaded or connected would be REALLY bad for Valve to do. Using spotify is no different.

This would be a HUGE legal mess for Valve and the RIAA would LOVE Valve to allow stuff like this so that they could be sued for billions in copyright infringement because unlike suing individuals like you, they would actually get money out of Valve or Discord.

Well, on discord / Playstation and many other plattform you can link your Account and display what you're hearing as "Status".
I ment it in that way :)
Not as brodcast or ingame mic.

Also, it's legal because you're actually listening to the music OVER spotify.
I don't think that you've ever used that feature on over services,
but you have to click on the song and "Play" or listen with the person.

It's not legal to do that, so this will never happen.

The agreement is between you and spotify, not you and your friends and spotify. Period.

Because the music is being played TO YOU ONLY, not to you and anyone with ears. It's not "legal to do that because" - it's ILLEGAL for you to do anything other than you listening to it. Anything beyond your ears = not okay by any stretch of the imagination. That's why a lot of stores no longer are allowed to play music, because that is *literally* broadcasting to more than one audience member at a time.

Ahh well that is very different to just have the name of it put in the status... I still don't want it, because I don't care what someone else is listening to but at least it would not be as annoying as heaving it over the mic.

As long as it can be turned off so we can't see it, and its off by default fine, but its a waste of time and money of more important things they could be working on that would make people happier and actually make the platform better in general like subcategories for the Library which people have been asking for since the creation of categories.

And no I have never used spotify, I have zero need because I have a collection of CDs and music that I can listen to with zero advertising which I also don't have to pay out monthly to be able to listen to it and I can listen to them any where without having to worry about how much bandwidth I'm using. I also have an FM radio if I want to be blasted with ads if I get desperate for something different.

I dunno why you are getting so pissed at me for no reason :,D.
It was just a sugestion, if you don't need / want it fine,
secondly spotify is completely free to use,
the only thing you are paying monthly for is listening to songs offline / downloading songs.
Plus for some personal playlists i guess, that's it.

I mean..
also.. you can't just go to a suggestion post and be like " tHerE aRe mOre iMpoRtanT tHinGs"
Why have suggestion then in the first place? xD

How is litteraly linking spotify and listening to the songs displayed as Status OVER spotify illegal?
It's litteraly anything but brodcasting :,D.

"so people can listen to / with you."

So people = other than you.

Listening WITH you = not okay.

It really is that simple. When you listen to a radio station do you know why it's filled with commercials? That's because they have to PAY to use the music, legally, to broadcast over the air. It's not free to the stations. Music publishers have the final say - whether I think that's good or not (it is not), they DO. And they have on every single piece of music for sale anywhere, "this is intended for personal use" or words to that effect, "no broadcasting" means "no" broadcasting.

While it's nice to live in a fantasy world where it's fine to do that, and I would absolutely love to be in that world, the reality is that no, you cannot listen to something 'with' anyone else, legally, and particularly not 'over a service that is intended for personal use' like Spotify - OR steam.

On discord there's a feature where you can listen to the same song a person is listening to,
with the same Time Stamp, "Listening with the person".
I don't mean brodcasting to the Profile,
i don't mean brodcasting it over ingame mic, i just mean a way to display it as status, like many other services do.
Since i really liked it on other services.

" i just mean a way to display it as status, "

Well that certainly makes much more sense, tbh :) Sorry about misunderstanding what you meant.

I don't think that it's likely, though you could always just 'add a non-steam game' and use the text workaround to show what program you're using, but I doubt that it'd be able to pick up any internal info like individual titles of songs.
