Sending .mp3 and .wav under 5mb size to chatmate
I think it will be cool, if you can to send to your friend some of music or audiofiles what you have on PC. With ability to save file by your friend.
And in order not to overload the network, just delete these files in an hour or a day.

Doubt that'll happen. Besides malware risks from the owner of the account or a hijacker it could be considered piracy if the user does not legal own the rights to share them. That would also have legal consequences for Valve in allowing illegal sharing of content.

Agree doubt that will gain any popularity. Just upload your files to storage online like Google drive then share a link to it give to friend and they can download it.
Or even email it lol

Viruses in .mp3 files? Sounds mad. Especially from "friend" list.

Peoples accounts get hijacked all the time. The hijackers then spam their complete friends list with links and a story to that same phishing website.

Viruses can be embedded into most things including a simple image file

I don't see why Valve should make the effort to add something just because people are lazy to do few more clicks.

Viruses/malware/etc can be embedded in literally anything.

Had you taken a few moments to browse through the forum you would see the many topics pertaining to "My friend reported me on accident", referring to a friend's account which was hijacked. You want those people to be able to send a virus?

Have Discord same problems with "audio" viruses?

There are file sharing software out there, if you want to do stuff like that, get stuff like that. Valve is not a file sharing network. They are a GAME store.

Then you have the issue of legality. Valve is required by law to report illegal activity, file sharing stuff like MP3s is illegal activity. Why do you think people get sued for uploading songs/movies/games/programs all the time?

This is never going to happen, because Valve doesn't want to have to keep track of all that stuff, and doesn't want to get dragged into legal battles.
