This ain't related at all.
Edit: As clearification if that helps, this is about the Steam Client's server list. Not any specific game's favorites list.
This belongs back into the Suggestions forum for the Steam Client.
If a mod would be so nice as to move it back .... *sigh*
All in all, I support this change which should really have been implemented that way in the first place.
These basically give each server a unique identity to the Steam backend, if the server's IP changes it will get migrated in the favourites list automatically because it's identified by the GSLT.
Residential users usually do not have the ability to get a static IP due to ISP's forcing them to get business accounts at triple the cost
The ability to not have to have all the players to not have to change 15 favorites(ark server cluster) every time the ISP changes the IP would make me and my player base extremally happy
