Please consider good for drawing touchscreen on upcoming Steam Deck
Hi, Steam Deck is looking up to be a great device that will replace laptop, tablet and portable console for me.

One thing I wish to suggest is to add a good touchscreen for drawing applications on higher cost models.

Thank you Valve, You are amazing! :)

Honestly as long as you have a good Bluetooth pen accessory, it should be fine with the touch screen and whatever software you use, since, well, it is just a handheld PC.

Its already got a touch screen. How sensitive it is, I have no idea, not many people too. At this point, seeing as how its going to be released in December, all the hardware thats going to be in it is locked in and won't be changing. All 3 models will have the same screen.

I doubt the touch screen would be great for drawing on, after all its only like 6 or 7 inches in size.

So if thats the main reason you are looking into it, you might want to wait till you can get your hands on one to test it out. If thats just one of many reasons, don't toss out what ever you have now till you can try it.

Idk but imho as the screen is capacitive, and the dpi quite high, it could be fine (as hobbist) to use it for drawing. I' m using the nvidia shield tablet and its stylus that has no wifi nor bluethoot connections has also no lags, while super thin.
I'm using Krita for Android.

Just a simple Wacom tablet would be great.

I wouldn't try an use the Deck's built-in touch screen for art. It's not really made for it. You can prop the Deck up and use a tablet like this one, or even hook the Deck up to a monitor for a full-blown workstation type experience.

Use Krita for your drawing needs. It's an absolutely phenomenal art program that was made for Linux. (Though it's available on other operating systems too.)

Drawing on a screen (within a rubber stylus as the nvidia's one) is very fine imho, and different from a wacom tablet.
The shield has a gpu dedicated, I still guess the Deck will be fine anyway (even if it's 7" / 10:9, while the Shield 10" / 16:9 iirc (not talking as professional work ofc).

Yeah, "fine" is the word I would use. You don't get any pressure sensitivity though, and the sheer size of the stylus does feel a bit like you're trying to draw with a chunky crayon.

One of these can help:

Personally though those basic Wacom tablets are fairly inexpensive. I think most people will have a much better experience using one.

Well I just guess that anyone might have his/her personal preferences, as if for some any stylus could be fine, others prefers not a plastic tip; to me e.g. not having lags is quite important, and as the less powerfull Shield can handle it, and while doing pinch to zoom gives no issues (to me), the maybe-less pressures it has are still enought (in comparison of using other tablets, not directly drawing on a screen is imho a different way of digital...).
But those are only personal feelings, a Wacom can sure be fine too (or other brands that I don' t know).
