A privacy option to make the specifically the games wishlist private would be useful. I don't want to make my entire profile private, but I don't want people going onto my games wishlist to buy me games. I just like to keep the wishlist for buying myself games when they go on sale. I can imagine others would want their wishlist private so their friends can't see that they are looking to buy them a game or for NSFW reasons.

You can private your Game Details. You don't need to make your whole profile private.

This is true. Still isn't a route that I want to take but that is an option for others I suppose.

A private wishlist would be nice for users who use the wishlist more to keep track of sales on games they're interested in, but don't really want other people buying it for them.

Yup definitely need this. I follow a lot of early access games to just track them but don't necessarily want people gifting them to me.

If your profile is public, then people should be able to see your wishlist.

Seriously, though, I think IsThereAnyDeal also has a wishlist feature or something like that? You can even get prices from sites other than Steam. Which in turn means you might also have some other sites where you can wishlist stuff.

And if you really have to wishlist things on Steam, you can always make a second account just for wishlisting.

Also, I'd like to repost the suggestion that Steam ought to handle things the way itch.io does it -- you can have multiple lists, for any purpose, named anything, and they can each be public or private.
