We really need an option to delete inventory items
I'm not just talking about the sales stickers, but sometimes I receive unsollicited 'gifts' from games I'll never play and they are impossible to sell.
For the last 3 years I've been trying to sell two swords that I got from the game 'trove' even though I have this game hidden in my preferences.
This is really really really REALLY annoying

+1

The previous copy of this topic was locked 3 years ago, so fully support this updated thread.

Also want to get rid of some stupid "killing floor" passes I have for no reason.

If the items are tradable why not just give them away?
I had some game item from a past sales event that nobody would buy (100's were in the marketplace). I eventually went to the trading forum for that game and just picked a thread with a trade link and offered the item (with a note about what was up). The next day the item was finally gone.

Many aren't, sadly.

Are there ones that can't get sold or traded?

There are literally dozens of bots that accept "donations" of any kinds. There even is a bot called "Item Dumpster". As long as their side of the trade is empty the accpet ANYTHING. So just make them an empty offer with all items you don't want and boom easy deletion.

Yes. Many.

Many have the "Not tradable" and "Not marketable" tags.

Nothing to do with that.

yeah it is because no one is forced to go look at the inventory page and with unlimited spaces you can keep it all.

I've been trying to rid spring clean items on the market for the last two years and I have unwanted guess pass crap that also needs offing. Would be great to have the option to remove items of a certain low value with auth conformation at the very least.

The whole inventory system needs a major overhaul too because users are now obtaining stickers galore from some events along with many points shop items. It's all getting a bit messy really.

I don't know why they don't just let us delete things we don't want...

I too had a Trove sword for YEARS and I have no idea where it came from. That one was tradable i think, gave it to a dumpster bot in the end.

If you can't sell an item because supply is way in excess of demand, but it is able to be sold or traded, that's not really a problem of any significance. Just gem it or give it to a trash bot or make your own secondary junk Steam account to dump your garbage in. The real problem is items that can't be sold, can't be traded, and can't be deleted. It's an f'ing travesty for Valve not to have a way for customers to deal with that other than making Steam support delete it (which they will claim they can't do if you submit a ticket, but if you keep insisting and quote your relevant rights under the Steam Subscriber Agreement, they will eventually actually admit they have to do).

I'd imagine its so hijacked accounts don't have their entire inventory deleted. Takes more work to trade it to one of the bots that accept any items but its not hard.

Not against a way to delete items, just would have to be more secured somehow to prevent people from losing everything if their account gets compromised.
