Actually yes, I have Ocd (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) so as the name implies I tend to Obsess about things that may seem tiny or insignificant to some.
it might be worth adding to your OP incase people skip over all the replies to post their own reply (quite common, people not reading the existing discussion, sad).
there is the old saying, "out of sight out of mind", but i suppose that doesn't quite apply here...
doesn't seem right to say "just don't look at it" with your condition in mind...
unfortunately, I am struggling to think how what you're asking for would benefit, besides yourself, anyone?
would it even benefit you? since you'll still know you did what you did even if it was "hidden" (implying it could later be unhidden) or deleted...
are you referring to how you "permanently deleted" a game from your account, but weren't aware it is NOT "permanent" and ended up buying it again instead of undeleting it?
YOU didn't realize you'd hidden it and bought it again.
Wouldn't that have been solved by, say,
ACTUALLY LOOKING at your transaction history?
Your facepalm and embarrassment at this is on you. The entire transaction history of every account needs to exist *for the entire duration of that account*.
What happens if you say, "well it cuts off after 10 years" and then 11 years go by and someone's account gets stolen? The transactions need to be there, for security reasons, if not for taxes and proving that it is indeed your purchase history...
1. Hijack account.
2. Trade their items to third party.
3. Delete transaction history.
1. Hijack account.
2. Use Steam wallet to buy things from the market or to gift games.
3. Delete transaction history.
The user would not have any way of knowing what has actually happened and since there's no history shown, the only option would be to make a ticket to ask about it and then figure out what's happened and only then being able to escalate it (if there's anything to escalate). Support doesn't really need more tickets sent their way.
Yes, I bought a game again Because I wasn’t aware you could undelete them, it didn’t say anywhere that I could do that during the deletion process and made it sound like if I wanted the game back the only way would be to rebuy it.
On every suggestion of deleting or hiding something I always see this argument but it’s nothing but a boogeyman, if you cared about not getting stuff stolen/deleted we have so much security options to keep accounts safe it’s pretty much impossible to get hacked.
Also as I said in the title this could only be old history that expires after some years, so it wouldn’t happen like you said.

Can you point out what exactly bugs you about it then? Because what you describe in your OP has nothing to do with OCD but rather being ashamed of yourself.
And for the clutter. Can you elaborate on that one? What exactly seems "cluttered" to you. I mean you want change so you should be able to actually point out bad things rather than just being like "It's bad because I don't like it"
Every little thing you do gets tracked for one reason or another in the inventory history tab like crafting, selling, buying items off the market, even the in games stores say when you buy stuff not only in the inventory history but transaction history too. I don’t want to feel like I’m under a microscope for any mistake I might do so that’s why after atleast 5+ years some of the older stuff should be hidden or deleted.
Deleting your transaction history won't fix a problem that you could have avoided by actually looking at it.
Or Valve could say permanently removing games isn't permanent.
