Stop punishing people for shopping when you removed the alternative!
I've played with the same group of five people (myself plus four) for years now. A game just went on sale that I've had my eye on. So I go to buy it. I need a copy for myself and for four others.

You removed the ability to buy packs/multiple copies for friends, so I have to buy all five of them one at a time.

So after buying four, you lock me out of the store for making too many purchases.

How about giving us an alternative if you're going to punish us for doing it the hard way.

how is it a problem what obstacle do you have to over come, its not a problem its a minor inconvenience valve is never going to "fix"

Kind of like trying to get through to people on the internet.

Every time I want to buy games for my co-op group, I'm going to get locked out of the store halfway through the purchases, as will every other customer in a similar situation. Every time, regardless of the mechanism.

And yes, there is a workaround. Buy the keys from a third party and send those out. I don't think that is Valve's preferred solution, though, as it costs them money.
Bruh just buy your friends gift cards or use gog or humble
So the solution is to not use Steam? So maybe a solution that would allow him to use Steam, which is what both parties obviously want, hassle free...is the better answer. Hence....a suggestion was made. ;)

dosnt make that much sense any ways my friend has bought like 20 people the same cheap game and hasnt had this happen
"Bruh" (hasn't that been retired yet?), buying the gift cards through Steam creates exactly the same issue, and GoG/Humble/whatever doesn't A) have all of Steam's games, B) doesn't let you take advantage of Steam's sale.

And I'm glad you bought 20 people the same game without issue. Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal.

I don't understand why you're acting like this?

No more or less than yours.
You can easily search for the term I quoted earlier and find hundreds of references to other people with the same issue. It isn't a freak issue, it is by design.

It's most likely put in to prevent people with stolen accounts from going nuts. An alternative workaround would be to require a SteamGuard confirmation after every four (or whatever) purchases, and only trigger a lockout after a greater number.
I reckon a discount would be a good alternative if buying that many copies...

That was part of the idea behind multi-packs, but according to Spawn of Totoro's post, the discount itself was why it was removed.

Anyhow, OP's concern isn't about the cost but rather about being locked out from making several purchases in a row.

Yeah, and that.. Gosh... lol!

Then again, why have a Sale at all then. If a game is being offered at discount I feel it isn't Steam's or any other party's business what is done with a Key afterward.

THAT is what actually gives value to the key in the first place.

My friends all ways told me one of the reasons was because if one person wanted to refund the game they all had to refund the game and devs ended up losing money, also a game in a multi pack that then went on sale would be notably cheaper, id imagine a lot of devs caught on selling your games for super cheap ends up hurting your self more in the long run since people who put a good amount of time making a game as indie devs and made a worth while game started to notice they weren't really making that much money in the end by selling their games for pretty cheap and doing things like humble bundle

But the fact you can just put your game on sale when ever for how ever much makes me think its more likely its the refund thing or valve wants to keep control over people reselling since valve would be losing money if people buy and resell keys with out valve making a deal
Ok good points. I haven't thought about it too deeply then.

Thanks
Question, were you buying each gift with an outside payment source (credit card, PayPal, etc...) or with funds in your Steam wallet? If it was the former, maybe try adding enough funds to your Steam Wallet first, then buying the games for your friends with those funds.

Its a real pain in the ass to be sure, and sometimes they decide not to allow you to GIVE THEM MONEY and buy certain titles for random other steam users.

This might be a solution. Would love to know.
