Or can be easily renamed to "Points Badge" just as it was done with the "Summer Golden Profile" that was renamed to "Seasonal Profile"
That wouldn't work as well for a badge. Renaming it would screw things up. The only things they can do is increase the level cap or create a new one altogether.
Ok I am curious...
Please enlight me, why it would not be possible to simply give that badge a new name? The badge holds an id as ALL badges on Steam do. Said id is associated to some title - in most cases a gametitle; otherwise they declared it manually. Changing that title does not affect anything mechanic-related and neither would it touch any other asssociated data.
It would not be the badge the users purchased if the name changes. I can see the threads upon threads complaining about a name change.
The only 2 options left is what I posted above.
Reasonable, yet rather nit-picking. Unless this Debut badge becomes unavaliable people in 2077 will be able to purchase it as people were this year and therefore there is nothing special about it what so ever.
So no one cares if they bought Level 20 of badge id X and level 100 of badge id Y or level 120 of badge id X. If you are right and the badge is about to leave the scene so it becomes a collectors badge then yes renaming things would mess it up.
I have never seen a single person out there buying / crafting badges for their names.
Depends on the case as I said. If it is planned to be removed then yes. Otherwise they can simply rename it and increase / unlock the cap.
I have. One of my friend uses display name "Sour Apple", so he craft a badge that has "sour" on its name and an apple as its icon.
Thank you, I shall monitor it from time to time and will read news more closely.
