Steam profile comments and privacy settings
You can disable steam comments from people outside of your friendslist but you're still able to put comments on other peoples profiles (outside of your friendslist) while this setting is enabled.

Sounds kind of dumb to me?

A lot of people tend to think they are very cool by showing their appreciation for their in game death caused by you on your Steam profile with a comment.

Example: [insert hacking accusation here and also a threat to your entire family]

You see this message and check their profile only to notice that you cannot comment on theirs because you aren't friends.

So he basically set up a shield for himself while still attacking me...

Why is this a thing?

Make it so that when you disable comments from people outside of your list, you're also no longer able to comment on other peoples profiles if they are not on your friendslist.

Don't get me wrong, i like public commenting!

But some people are asshats and use this to freely be an annoyance.

Yes, i also know you can remove comments. That's not the point here

i don't want to come off as very rude but, i don't think you are very qualified to answer this question if you use a private profile

Yet here you are confusing your own profile privacy settings with someone else's. Changing your privacy settings has no impact on other's settings. You don't have to accept the answer, just remember it when you do realize that it was correct. Multiple vac bans and uses the word "boomer". Can't say that this post doesn't reek of bs, but it reeks of bs.

So the "quality" of his answer increases as soon as he sets his profile to public? You know how that sounds exactly?

i don't think that someone that doesn't experience a certain thing is very qualified to educate on that certain thing.

and instead of actually giving your feedback on my question you decided to question my reply to him

Lemme get this straight. You just told him that you question his ability to answer your question properly due to the privacy settings and then seriously criticize me because I don't provide feedback WHEN YOU JUST DECLARED THAT YOU DON'T VALUE THE OPINION OF PRIVATE USERS?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yet you're complaining about Privacy settings and don't understand it doesn't affect others profiles.

Are you going to say something about mine? It's a 16yr old Steam account. Seems to be quite the double standard to complain about things like this only to complain someone is "less qualified" for choosing to have a private profile.

As pointed out, if you're going to speak about "qualified", you might want to be in a position where you haven't been banned by cheating, before telling others anything of the sort.

You have the same option, if you do not like comments from random strangers, make your profilecomments private or friends only.
That said, if someone is abusing your profile, block the user, if it's threats, report them.

Private or not, forums is open to all, a persons opinion is just as good/bad no matter what the profile is set to be imo.
