Also, do you really think people will bomb games with positive reviews? Look how many toxic people are here, in this topic. Go at any other discussion too see that half of steam users are toxic and they will shrug at posting positive review. This is reason why now we dont see how many % gave you "no" under any of yours reviews. People were giving "thumb down" under good reviews because they didnt agree with positive review. Thats how toxic this community is.
So I ask you again, you really think games will be bombed with positive reviews?
Seems like you dont like the idea of hidden review. So why are you still here? Only annoying people that like this idea? Just walk away. If you are right and this idea is bad, valve wont add this and you will win without arguing.
What you consider "positive" might not be positive; it may be a poor/bad review that really gives no idea if someone should purchase or not.
People are free to post where they wish, and comment on anything they wish, you do not get to dictate what they can or cannot comment on. If you want people to "walk away" you can unsubscribe from the thread.
If you're a serious reviewer, you should review the game as a professional, and have no feelings towards that. Imagine being a doctor that's too ashamed to look at his patients. Imagine if I ask you to review something on a professional basis, and you be like: "Oh, I feel ashamed!" That's not how it works, because I asked you to review it.
You can objectively write your review, without feeling shame. There is nothing to be ashamed about, because I asked you to review it. You didn't even created the game. It has nothing to do with you. You're not being reviewed yourself, you're reviewing a game.
Isnt this toxic for you?
Even poor/short review can be helpful if someone wrote why he gave positive. E.G. my SS2 review. In polish but you can translate it. I wrote what is good in this game in my opinion and still around 80% of people pressed that my review isnt helpful. Why? SS2 is hated in Serious's Sam community (thats my opinion, that SS2 is hated, but for sure its not liked)
Its my thread and I think I should participate in disscussion. Answer and correct if people starts to confabulate about it. Like the guy who said this will help people with bombing games. I suppose this means negative bombing, when i wrote about only positive hidden reviews.
(Im 100% sure you will add something here. So Ill answer tommorow, no time today)
If it's a poor review, it's likely going to be given the appropriate response. Someone can give a positive review, and give some sort of unrelated justification to themselves of why they did so = but it might not be as related to the game/gameplay etc as users are looking for. Far too often I see positive reviews with zero useful information.
That doesn't make their response "toxic", if you want to discuss something - don't immediately label responses you don't like as some sort of overly negative, dismissive thing. You take on the responses themselves properly, hence a discussion.
It's called "Boosting" and yes, it does happen. A couple devs have even been booted for it.
You also see it going on in conjunction with "review bombs". Basically you'l find fans boosting to counter the bombing. Which is why the system basically excludes both positive and negative reviews when a bombing event is detected.
So people who disagree with you are "Toxic". So you're one of "Those" types hmmm.
Now this suggestions starts making a little more sense.
Well that's one reason. And it turns out the very simple solution was to simply deny those sorts the immediate feedback.
It has already happened. And it occurse in somewhat predictable patterns so....
As you have it suggested. No I don't.
I feel it somewhat defeats the purpose of a review.
Because I find the discussion interesting.
Why are you?
You're free to walk away if you're so annoyed m8.
And the same applies to you m8. You made the suggestion. You could just walk away. If valve decides it's good then you will win without having to argue.
And its more than likely not gonna be a thing because it literally has no benefit ( to the key parties).
From the reader persepctive You're not even contributing as much as the memers and ascii artists. At least they're sharing a joke that could potentially give a laugh. And is more likely to make users more suspicious and distrustful of that aggregate if they start noticing that numbers aren't adding up and the ones that aren't being shown are positive. Clearly they're shill reviews, that Valve/Devs/Pubs/Lizards are using just to pad and buff the review scores for games. They're hidden because if they could be seen people would quickly sus out that they're copy/pastes.
From the perspective of Valve you're just a +/- 1 to the aggregate. They have no shortage of +/- 1's. They be tripping +/- 1's. They have +/- 1's for days. If anything they're apt to implement measures to cull +/- 1's.
From the dev/pub perspective. Sure they don't mind an extra +1. But when those +1's kinda make them look sus. The value starts tanking fast. And then there's the simple fact that they generate no engagement. Which again reduces the benefit. At least a Meme or ascii review can do that.
No matter how it's sliced. Under the best case scenario such reviews are just 'more meme reviews' in effect. And at worse actually harmful to the system as a whole.
It kinda jusrt smacks of being lazy. So lazy that you can't even be bothered to copy paste a meme review. I mean if you can't evem be bothered to expend that level of effort to express your opinion...
if you want to do the devs a favour. Boost the visibility of an actually well written review. That'll do them far better.
I will do what I wrote. Bye man, no point talk to someone who dont read what I wrote. 1st answer is about something way different I ment.
With that guy I dont have willings to argue more, but with you Id like to, you write at least something more than just response. BUT this thread will have 100 pages and I think at the end I will agree with you. So as you said: Ill spam with meme reviews copied from other players.
If you have something more to add, Ill read but I wont response to you anymore (probably)
If you are either recommending or not recommending a product, that info must be made for others to see. Otherwise you are literally wasting your time. You think a dev is going to give a crap if you are only telling THEM their game is bad? That isnt a review, that is ranting that the wind changed direction.
If you don't want others to see your review at all, then much like this bad idea here, keep it to yourself. It will have the same effect anyway.
It's like saying your ashamed of being hungry.. And you don't want anyone to know your eating...
The world has made everyone feel bad for natural desires... Disgusting.
