Don't launch Big Picture when In-Home Streaming
I use the In-Home Streaming feature a lot for desktop sharing (more than for playing games), and it'd be nice to have an option to not have Steam launch Big Picture mode. Even when I do play a game, I just use the regular desktop UI, so literally the first thing I do every time I connect is exit Big Picture.

I do think the default should still be to launch Big Picture, since that's what people expect and works well for first-time setup; what I'm asking for is an option to disable the behaviour (of auto-launching it).

Not sure when this happened, but as of a few days ago there is an option in the Steam Link settings (i.e. when you're looking at the UI of the Steam Link itself, before connecting to a remote computer) to launch straight to the desktop without going through Big Picture. Not that anybody was looking at this post anyway, but...I consider this resolved.

I can't mark this post as an answer (maybe you can't mark your own replies as answers?), but if a moderator sees this and wants to do it, it'll improve the usefulness of this post to mark it as answered/resolved.

You can't mark your own post as the best answer. various idiots abused it and mark their on comment as best answer even when it was rubbish.

I'd just EDIT the OT to include the solution to the problem you had. Best answer or Edit with the answer is essentially the same. Both located at the top with the OT. Could just say EDIT and quote Post #1 or use formatting tags to make it stand out more...if you want.

EDIT: used to have something editted as a non steam game that allowed me to force a desktop environment. Didn't work great back them. Haven't used Steam link for years so it's nice to know and official way to do this is now possible
